Register for Delta's 2016 Elite Status Challenge Online
The cards we feature here are from partners who compensate us when you are approved through our site, and this may impact how or where these products appear. We don’t cover all available credit cards, but our analysis, reviews, and opinions are entirely from our editorial team. Terms apply to the offers listed on this page. Please view our advertising policy and product review methodology for more information.

Update: A Delta representative reached out to clarify that only individuals who received this offer from their employer or Delta will be eligible for the status challenge. While anyone may be allowed to register, unqualified members will not earn status through this promotion.

Note: The status challenge below may be targeted, but you'll likely be able to register even if you don't meet the corporate travel requirement.

American launched a status challenge earlier this month, but you need to call in and pay a fee to participate. Now Delta's introduced a challenge of its own, and it's a heck of a lot easier to enter.

As per the terms of this promotion, you can earn six months of Silver Medallion status plus 5,000 bonus miles after flying one qualifying round-trip (regular paid flights that aren't booked in L, U, T, X, V or E fare classes). If you fly three round-trips, you'll earn Gold status for a year, plus 10,000 miles. Or if you fly six round-trips, you'll earn 12 months of Platinum status plus 10,000 bonus miles. According to the terms, it appears that these bonuses do stack, so you have the potential to earn a total of 25,000 bonus miles after completing six round-trip flights. Those miles are worth $300 based on TPG's most recent valuations.

Officially, you need to be part of a corporate travel program in order to sign up, but the challenge appears to be open to any member that doesn't currently have status with Delta. To enter, visit this page and enter your SkyMiles number. You must complete the requirements within six months of registering, and you need to sign up by June 30, 2016 (though Delta may begin enforcing the corporate travel program requirement long before that date). Tickets purchased before you register won't be eligible, unfortunately. See this post to get an idea of what you can expect as a Delta elite.
