Welcome to week 2 of Daily Getaways — an annual five-week-long travel discount extravaganza hosted by the US Travel Association. Offers during week two include discounted Hilton and Wyndham points, Vegas getaways, Hertz car rentals and Omni hotel stays.

Each deal will go live at 1:00pm ET, so make sure that you set your alarm a few minutes earlier than that if you’re really interested in snagging a deal. Based on Daily Getaways purchases I’ve made in week one, they code as travel. So, make sure to use a credit card that has a category bonus for general travel such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve (3x Ultimate Rewards points) or the Chase Sapphire Preferred (2x points).

Let’s dive into the details to see which offers you might be interested in this week:

April 16: Hilton Points Packages at 0.5 cents per point

  1. 30,000 Hilton Honors points for $150
  2. 100,000 Hilton Honors points for $500
  3. 250,000 Hilton Honors points for $1,250
Points Cost Cents per Point Available Deals Maximum purchase
30,000 $150 0.50 450 3
100,000 $500 0.50 275 1
250,000 $1,250 0.50 220 1

If you act quick, you can purchase up to 440,000 Hilton points at 0.5 cents each on Monday. Compared to TPG’s valuation of Hilton points at 0.6 cents each, these are a reasonably good value. Just make sure you have a good use for the points before buying these packages. Here are a few guides to point you in the right direction:

Also, before you buy points, make sure that you’ve already used your options for earning points through credit card spending. Both the Hilton Honors Aspire Card from American Express and the Hilton Honors American Express Ascend Card are currently offering elevated welcome bonuses. You can earn 150,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 in the first three months on the Hilton Aspire and 125,000 after you spend $2,000 in the first three months.

April 17: 15,000 Wyndham Points / One Free Night

  • Cost: $175
  • Description: 15,000 points valid for up to 1 night at any Wyndham Rewards property
  • Restrictions: No more than 2 sets of points are permitted per Wyndham Rewards member number.
  • Number available: 1,143

This package is being sold as “1 Night at any Wyndham Rewards Property,” but you’re actually purchasing 15,000 Wyndham points. Since May 2015, Wyndham has had a flat rate for award nights at 15,000 points per night. Alternatively, you can redeem 3,000 points for a “GO FAST” points and cash booking.

At $175 per award night, you’re going to need to find a high-end Wyndham property to make this a good deal. If you can utilize a good redemption option, purchasing two nights through Daily Getaways can be a good supplement to the two nights you can get for free through the Wyndham Rewards Visa Card sign-up bonus.

There are very few of these packages available. But, if you’re looking for a Vegas getaway and can work around the blackout dates, you’ll want to be ready to buy these packages right at 1:00pm.

April 19: Hertz Points / Rental Packages

Deal Points Cost Cents per Point Available Deals Maximum purchase
One Week Standard Rental 5,500 $280 5.09 45 1
Weekend Prestige Collection 13,200 $560 4.24 35 1
One Week Prestige Collection 16,500 $698 4.23 50 1

While these are promoted as specific packages, all three of these deals are actually a purchase of Hertz Rewards Points. Point purchase rates vary between 4.23 and 5.09 cents per point.

TPG doesn’t have a valuation for Hertz points, but — as a reference — Hertz typically sells points for 20 cents each. TPG‘s Jason Steele doesn’t find Hertz points to be worth 20 cents each, although one TPG reader reports regularly getting 20-22 cents per point in value from Hertz points. Check out Hertz’s award chart for all of your options.

Verdict: There are some great options in here for those looking for a higher-end hotel stay. However, I’m quite wary of the blackout dates. It’s troublesome that they aren’t listed before buying. So, make sure that you have alternate dates or use for the voucher if your target date/hotel isn’t available.
