Barclaycard Announces #LiketoLove Facebook Sweepstakes With Grand Prize Of Up To $25,000
Barclaycard announced the launch of their first social network driven campaign, #LiketoLove, on Facebook with daily and weekly prizes as well as a grand prize of up to $25,000 now through September 8, 2013.
To enter, you must be a US resident 18 years or older:
- Visit the #LiketoLove Sweepstakes, and like the page.
- Once you are a fan, take a photo of the things you love with the #LiketoLove sign (Click here to download).
- Include a caption of what you #LiketoLove including that hashtag.
You don't need to be a cardholder to enter and you can enter once per day, and prizes will vary.
Just note that, as with most contests like this, you'll be responsible for the taxes on the Approximate Retail Value (ARV) of the the prize.
Barclaycard is On A Roll
This Facebook contest is just the latest by Barclaycard US following the announcement of the launch of an online travel community earlier this summer, where members are able to earn points for contributing their stories and deals with other users. Even better, you can earn points (redeemable for travel) even if you aren't a Barclaycard cardholder.
Stories and photos are already trickling onto the site (mainly from writers classified as 'founding members') and it is beginning to get buzz in the travel community. Details are still sparse, but contacts at Barclaycard reps said they're in the final stages of development and the points earning/redeeming ratios should be released within the next two months.
Both of the social media forays come hot on the heels of the recent launch of an all-time high limited-time sign-up offer of 40,000 miles (worth $400 in travel) for Barclaycard's Arrival card when you spend $1,000 in 3 months. Cardholders can redeem their miles at a fixed rate of 1 cent apiece for travel expenses such as airline tickets, hotel nights and car rentals and receive a 10% mileage refund on redemptions as well as several other great benefits including earning 2X miles per $1 on all purchases, no foreign transaction fees and the first year's $89 annual fee waived.
I think it is a good move for Barclaycard to embrace the power of social media and I hope the many other credit cards follow their lead since it's a great way to engage consumers and we all get the chance to earn bonus points and prizes.
