Starwood Preferred Guest sent out a targeted email to elite members who have already achieved Gold or Platinum status this year offering them a $25 certificate off anything that can be charged to their room on a future stay including things like in-room movies, spa treatments and room service.

You can actually choose between the $25 certificate or a one-year magazine subscription to your choice of Conde Nast publications like Conde Nast Traveler, GQ and the New Yorker, but since you can get several of these for less than $25, I'm going for the certificate myself.

According to the T&C, after you register you will receive one $25 SPG Award Certificate within 4–6 weeks of registration to the name as indicated on your member profile and the address specified upon registration. Certificate is valid one year from month issued and may be used toward any goods or services that are charged to your folio at a Starwood Preferred Guest participating hotel by the expiration date.

Upon checkout, the face value of the certificate will be applied to your folio. Certificates are not redeemable for cash. No cash or credit will be given for any unused portion of any certificate surrendered. When certificate is redeemed outside of the United States, currency conversion rates of the day will be utilized and confirmed by the hotel. Certificate must be surrendered to the hotel at time of use. Certificate is not transferable and cannot be resold. Use by any person other than the recipient named is invalid and void.

As I said, the offer was sent out by targeted email to SPG members who have already requalified for Gold or Platinum elite status this year, but even though I've already more than qualified (currently writing this on my 75th night of the year), I didn't get the email myself. However, I went to the promo page, entered my membership information and address, and got a confirmation immediately. So if you know you've already qualified for elite status for next year, it can't hurt to try!
