About 20 US hotels have been affected by a recent data breach in which credit card information may have been compromised from thousands of food, beverage and other miscellaneous transactions. The affected hotels are all owned by HEI Hotels & Resorts, a privately owned company with hotels operated by Starwood, Marriott, Hyatt and InterContinental. The breach was active for over a year, from March 2015 to June 2016. According to experts, hackers may have stolen names, account numbers, security codes and expiration dates.

The breach involved 12 Starwood properties, 6 Marriott properties, 1 Hyatt and 1 InterContinental property. The Starwood properties affected were Westin hotels in Minneapolis, Pasadena, Philadelphia, Snowmass, Colorado, Washington, D.C. and Fort Lauderdale as well as other Starwood properties in Arlington, Virginia, Manchester Village, Vermont, San Francisco, Miami and Nashville. The affected Marriott properties are located in Boca Raton, Florida, the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Chicago, San Diego and Minneapolis.
