In the final weeks of pregnancy, there’s nothing many women want to do more than relax and, perhaps, get a little pampered. After all, your body has pretty much been taken over and life is about to change in a big way.

That’s exactly why babymoons — getaways taken right before a baby is born — exist. It's similar to a honeymoon since it's meant for just the two parents. Instead of spending time with your partner after getting married, you’re enjoying quality time together before a baby’s birth.

However, if you’re pregnant, there are limits to travel. For example, cruise lines won’t let you board after the second trimester or 24 weeks. Although airlines will let you fly until 36 weeks, there are still some restrictions in place. Additionally, international travel can be tricky to plan near the end of a pregnancy.

That's where these easy-to-reach domestic destinations come in. Whether you’re looking for poolside lounging, pampering spas, gourmet dining or city culture, we have you covered with these seven U.S. destinations.

Scottsdale, Arizona

Scottsdale, Arizona's Sonoran Desert vistas, outdoor adventures and luxury spa resorts make it an excellent vacation spot when you're expecting.

There are plenty of hotels where you can experience Scottsdale's desert allure. However, not all of them offer pregnancy perks such as a cushy maternity pillow to use during your stay or a onesie for your baby. Those are things you can only find at the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North.

Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North. ZACH HONIG/THE POINTS GUY

The resort's "Hello Baby" package comes with a $100 resort credit for dining or spa services during your stay, a chocolate welcome gift and a complimentary dessert when you dine at the on-site restaurant, Proof.

Casitas and suites start around $1,200 per night (plus taxes and fees), and they are decked out in neutral colors that let the natural beauty shine from your private patio or balcony. Some rooms feature large outdoor living areas with private plunge pools, a sitting area with a fireplace, a TV and an outdoor shower.

Cardmembers with Platinum or Centurion-branded American Express cards can book through the Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts program for additional benefits like daily breakfast for two, room upgrades (when available) and a $100 resort credit to use during your stay.

Mendocino, California

In Mendocino, you can spend your final days as a party of two in a secluded resort atop a pine-covered bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Listen to the waves gently crash against the cliffside, hike Pacific Coast trails and peer up at giant sequoias.

Brewery Gulch Inn overlooking the Mendocino Coast. BREWERY GULCH INN

The Brewery Gulch Inn in Mendocino is a small, 10-room inn that celebrates nature with salvaged-redwood construction, farm-to-table food and a rugged setting that lends itself to frequent appearances by birds, deer and other wildlife.

The resort's babymoon package includes massages specially tailored to parents' needs, and gifts from local businesses. The price for the package is $395 plus the room rate in an accommodation of your choosing; room rates start around $425 per night plus taxes and fees.

We recommend the Pine room with its cozy fireplace, two-person hot tub and private deck.

Charleston, South Carolina

If you're looking for a babymoon destination on the East Coast with elegant historic architecture, delicious dining, sleepy saltwater marshes, sandy beaches and a dash of Southern hospitality, look no further than Charleston, South Carolina.

PLANTERS INN/FACEBOOK

In the heart of historic downtown Charleston, Planters Inn has been delivering luxury and comfort since 1844. With meticulous garden grounds, four-poster beds and bespoke decor in every room, this 64-room boutique hotel oozes sophisticated Southern charm inside and out.

Speaking of charm, when you book Planters Inn's babymoon package, you'll receive dessert and sparkling cider delivered to your room, breakfast for two and a basket stocked with locally made bath products to enhance your soak in your room's oversized tub. The package also comes with a children's book and a teddy bear to bring home for your new addition.

Pricing for the Planters Inn babymoon package starts at around $399 per night (plus taxes and fees) and includes accommodations.

Nantucket, Massachusetts

Cozy, remote, romantic: Nantucket is what babymoon dreams are made of. Nantucket's unspoiled beachfront is lined with sea oats and gently rolling dunes. Paired with the sounds of the ocean, you'll instantly feel your pre-baby stress melt away.

Exterior grounds of White Elephant Nantucket. WHITE ELEPHANT NANTUCKET

Parents-to-be can book the two-night babymoon package at Nantucket’s White Elephant, where the pregnant person will get a prenatal massage and the other parent will get a cigar wrapped in ribbon. That’s on top of a stay in a room overlooking the picturesque harbor.

The whole property feels secluded but is only a short walk away from town favorites, such as Brant Point Lighthouse, The Juice Bar for those ice cream cravings and the Whaling Museum. At night, snuggle under blankets and read a book by your in-room fireplace. Or, sip mocktails at Brant Point Grill.

Babymoon package prices at the White Elephant start at around $475 per night.

Maui, Hawaii

Hawaii has long been the perfect place for both honeymoons and babymoons — and it’s pretty obvious to see why. The temperatures remain reasonably comfortable year-round, and there are plenty of spas, delicious food and outdoor exploration opportunities.

NALU Adventure Pool at Wailea Beach Resort. WAILEA BEACH RESORT

Maui's Wailea Beach Resort offers a taste of all Hawaii has to offer, and you'll probably want to return again and again after your babymoon. The hotel caters to couples and new parents with offerings that allow you to relax and indulge pre- and post-baby.

Expecting parents can book the "Awaken in Wailea" Experience, which includes a peaceful morning of wellness activities including a prenatal massage with meditative soundwave therapy and a fresh breakfast made with seasonal, local ingredients and homemade juices.

After breakfast, you can retreat to the adults-only infinity pool and reserve a romantic dinner on a private floating cabana.

The resort also offers an "'Ohana New Parents Package" with an upgraded Premium Sundeck Collection Suite, use of a crib, baby carrier, diapers and wipes during your stay; it also offers a 45-minute photo shoot to capture precious memories of your growing family. The package includes accommodations and costs around $2,259 per night (plus taxes and fees).

Wailea Beach Resort is just steps from the beach, and guest rooms and suites boast views of the resort's tropical gardens or the Pacific Ocean. Room rates start at around $680 or 88,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

Some credit cards, including The Platinum Card® from American Express, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express and certain co-branded Marriott Bonvoy credit cards, grant automatic Marriott Gold Elite status (enrollment may be required). This can get you enhanced internet access, a 25% point bonus on stays, 2 p.m. late checkout (based on availability), room upgrades (also based on availability) and a welcome gift of points each time you stay.

Key West, Florida

For a no-passport-required getaway with a Caribbean feel, the Florida Keys make for a perfect tropical babymoon getaway. This laidback island town is home to outdoor activities, historic sites, beautiful beaches and a food scene that highlights Florida favorites like fresh seafood and key lime pie.

CASA MARINA KEY WEST/FACEBOOK

Casa Marina Key West, Curio Collection by Hilton boasts the largest private beach on the island, making it a natural choice for your babymoon. Parents-to-be can enjoy outdoor couples massages in beachfront cabanas (including a prenatal massage), and lounge by the pool or the beach; they can also explore the art galleries, boutiques and restaurants on nearby Duval Street.

Rooms at the Casa Marina Key West start at around $350 or 95,000 Hilton Honors points per night.

Ojai, California

Ojai is close to Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, but it's much more laid back and secluded. Its name means "nest" in the native Chumash language, and it's the perfect spot for parents to "nest" before their little one arrives.

Peaceful Ojai sits 15 miles from the California coast and offers a retreat from the nearby hustle and bustle. It's a natural enclave encircled by rippling mountains that reflect sunsets to create a "pink moment" at the end of the day.

OJAI VALLEY INN

The mission-style Ojai Valley Inn pampers parents-to-be with relaxing treatments in the 30,000-square-foot Spa Ojai, including an Expectant Mother's Massage for the mom-to-be.

Other activities include Picnic & Pedal packages in the California countryside, beekeeping, paddle boarding, pool lounging and even bluegrass brunches.

Room rates start at around $650 per night (plus taxes and fees).

Bottom line

Whether you prefer to spend the day lazing on the beach, strolling down cobblestone streets or exploring nature's many wonders, one of these seven U.S. babymoon destinations should have just what you are looking for.

Once you've cleared your destination, mode of transportation and planned activities with your healthcare provider, it's time to treat yourself to the peace and relaxation that each destination strives to provide for parents-to-be.
