Since late September, the Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express and the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express and their business counterparts have been offering elevated bonuses. You now only have a week left to apply and earn the increased bonuses; they'll expire on Wednesday, November 8.
As a reminder, the Gold Delta SkyMiles Amex and the Gold Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card from American Express are both currently offering 50,000 miles after you spend $2,000 in the first three months of membership and an additional 10,000 miles (for a total of 60,000) after you spend another $1,000 in the first six months. With both cards, you can also earn a $50 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase in your first three months of membership. Based on TPG's valuations, 60,000 Delta SkyMiles are worth $720.
The main benefits of the Gold Delta SkyMiles Amex cards are 2x miles on Delta purchases, priority boarding, a free checked bag on Delta flights and 20% off in-flight purchases. Both cards have a $95 annual fee that's waived the first year, and no foreign transaction fees.
The more premium Platinum Delta SkyMiles Amex and Platinum Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card from American Express currently have elevated offers of 70,000 SkyMiles and 10,000 MQMs after you spend $3,000 in the first three months ($4,000 in the first three months on the business card). Based on TPG's valuations, 70,000 SkyMiles are worth $840. The last time we saw this increased bonus, it required spending $4,000 in the first four months on the personal card and $5,000 on the business card, so the minimum spending requirement is $1,000 lower this time around. Additionally, you'll earn a $100 statement credit when you make a Delta purchase in the first three months.
Both versions of the Platinum card earn 2x miles on Delta purchases, priority boarding and the other perks available on the Gold Delta Amex cards. In addition, the Platinum Delta cards offer a companion certificate good for a round-trip domestic economy ticket each year after card renewal. Plus, you can earn MQMs toward Delta elite status, both from the welcome bonus and by meeting the spending thresholds of $25,000 (for 10,000 more MQMs and 10,000 bonus redeemable miles) and $50,000 (for another 10,000 of each) in a calendar year. The Platinum Delta SkyMiles Amex and Platinum Delta SkyMiles Business Amex have annual fees of $195 and no foreign transaction fees.
Finally, note that in addition to offering all the perks of the personal versions of the cards, the two Delta business Amex cards get you access to 5% discounts with select vendors through Amex OPEN Savings and the Spender Manager mobile app for keeping track of business expenses. Additionally, you can add employee cards at no additional cost.
Bottom Line
Now's a great time to apply for any of these Delta Amex cards — especially the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Amex and its business version, since the spending requirement is lower than it was last time we saw these elevated bonuses. If you could use the perks like priority boarding as well as the extra SkyMiles, make sure to apply by November 8.
Will you be applying for any of these cards before the elevated offers expire on November 8?
