Here's a great opportunity to earn some Starpoints while sharing the program with someone new. The hotel chain recently launched a refer-a-friend program that rewards members with 1,000 bonus Starpoints if your referred friend completes a stay within 60 days — they'll also score 1,000 Starpoints for joining.

Unfortunately, Starwood is limiting this promotion to one friend, so you're only allowed to earn the 1,000 points once. Nonetheless, Starpoints are incredibly useful with a value of 2.5 cents per point according to the latest TPG valuations, so this promotion is worth about $25.

Also note that this offer might not be available to all members. I was unable to find the promotion, however other members of the TPG staff were able to access the offer. To access SPG's refer-a-friend promo, visit your SPG Dashboard.

If you're looking to earn even more points, American Express recently announced a limited-time increased sign-up bonus on both the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express and the Starwood Preferred Guest Business Credit Card from American Express. From now until March 30, you can earn 35,000 bonus Starpoints when you spend $3,000 or $5,000 in the first three months on the personal and business cards, respectively.
