Double Southwest Rapid Rewards Points Now Through November 21, 2013
Update: Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here – Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Credit Card
Registration for Southwest's Double Points promo is now open at this page. Here are the details:
- Register between October 14, 2013 and November 21, 2013.
- Book your flights through Southwest Airlines between October 14, 2013 and November 21, 2013.
- Complete your flights between October 14, 2013 and November 21, 2013.
You must register prior to the commencement of travel, and your travel must be completed by November 21, 2013.
Double points means you will receive 24 points per dollar spent on Business Select Fares, 20 points per dollar spent on Anytime Fares, and 12 points per dollar spent on Wanna Get Away Fares, in addition to the standard flight points you normally receive for each fare. However, only the normal base points (12 on Business Select, 10 on Anytime and 6 on Wanna Get Away) will count towards A-List, A-List Preferred, or Companion Pass qualification.
Although it's too bad that the bonus points don't count towards Companion Pass qualification, earning double points on Southwest fares is still a good deal considering you can get about 1.8 cents per point when redeeming for Wanna Get Away fares bringing the per-dollar return on your spending to about 21% - not bad in my book!Remember, if you're going for the Companion Pass this year, the Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Credit Card is also currently offering a bonus of 50,000 Rapid Rewards points when you spend $2,000 in the first 3 months and those points do count toward Companion Pass qualification.
Just keep in mind that Southwest recently announced a devaluation of its Rapid Rewards points that means starting March 31, 2014, Rapid Rewards members will have to redeem 70 points per $1 instead of 60 points per $1 for Wanna Get Away fares, bringing the per-point value to 1.4 cents.
