Have you been trying to plan a trip to London? You're in luck — Delta's offering a flash sale on flights from select US cities to London Heathrow (LHR). Economy round-trip award tickets start at 48,000 SkyMiles plus taxes and fees in the Main Cabin.
In order to take advantage of this promotion, you must purchase your ticket by November 15, 2017 at 11:59pm Eastern. According to the terms, the eligible travel period is from January 9 to May 10. Flights must be operated by Delta, which means Virgin Atlantic awards aren't eligible for this promo.
Right now, availability seems wide open on many routes. Just be forewarned that award flights from London have infamously high taxes and fees.
Here are some examples of what you can book:
New York's JFK to London (LHR) for 48,000 SkyMiles + $184 round-trip in economy:
Atlanta (ATL) to London (LHR) for 48,000 SkyMiles + $184 round-trip in economy:
Los Angeles (LAX) to London (LHR) for 48,000 SkyMiles + $190 round-trip in economy:
Chicago (ORD) to London (LHR) for 48,000 SkyMiles + $190 round-trip in economy:
Detroit (DTW) to London (LHR) for 48,000 SkyMiles + $184 round-trip in economy:
Bottom Line
Delta doesn’t publish an award chart, so there’s no telling just exactly how discounted these award sale fares are. However, if you’re thinking about taking a trip to London and have the SkyMiles to spend, this could be a good deal.
If you don’t have enough SkyMiles in your account, consider applying for one of the Delta SkyMiles credit cards from American Express to ensure you’re able to take advantage of an offer like this next time one pops up. For example, the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express comes with a welcome bonus of 30,000 SkyMiles after you spend $1,000 in the first three months and a $50 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase with your card within the first three months. You’ll earn 2 miles per dollar on Delta purchases and 1 mile per dollar on everything else.
