Are you a commuter, a parent driving between sports practices or the driver for your weekend getaway? If so, you could be missing out on valuable savings when filling up your gas tank.
The Fuel Rewards® program at Shell offers drivers valuable ways to save on gas purchases. It's free to join and allows you to earn gas rewards just by spending at the places you already do. Once you're set up, you just have to enter your phone number (Alt ID), swipe a Fuel Rewards® membership card or linked payment card before filling up at participating Shell stations.
A 2024 analysis by Forbes Advisor found the Fuel Rewards® program offers the most first-year savings of any fuel loyalty program. It is open to all U.S. drivers over the age of 18. Plus, you can earn rewards from one of two Shell credit cards.
Let's dive in to see how you can maximize savings with the value of a Shell credit card.
Shell credit cards
Shell offers two credit card options with single-swipe technology that allows cardholders to automatically save 10 cents per gallon* (up to 35 gallons*) at the pump.
Between these two cards, our recommendation is to get the Shell | Fuel Rewards® Mastercard®, as it offers more rewards. So, let's take a look at that one first.
Best for everyday spending
The Shell | Fuel Rewards® Mastercard® is the best choice for everyday drivers.
You can use it anywhere that Mastercard® is accepted, and its contactless payment feature makes it a secure and convenient option for making purchases.
When you apply for the card by Dec. 31, 2025, you'll save 30 cents per gallon* (up to 35 gallons*) on your first five Shell fuel purchases made by Feb. 28, 2026.
After that, you'll save at least 10 cents per gallon* (up to 35 gallons*) with instant Fuel Rewards® Gold status every time you fill up and pay with this card.
You'll also receive the following rebates:
- 10% Shell rebates* on your first $1,200 non-fuel purchases (per year) at Shell gas stations— saving you money on your favorite snacks and drinks when you're on the road
- 2% Shell rebates* on your first $10,000 in dining and groceries purchases per year — high expenses for most people
- 1% Shell rebates* on other qualifying purchases
And you can also add an authorized user for free to help your family save more.
