Chase Switching From Paper to Digital United Club Passes
Update: Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here.
One of the perks that comes with the United MileagePlus Explorer Card and the United MileagePlus Explorer Business Card is two day passes to the United Club. This benefit alone is worth $118 per year, as day passes at the lounge cost $59 each and the passes are provided when you first sign-up for the card and again each year when you renew the card.
Up until now, you'd receive physical passes on paper in the mail, and you'd have to remember to bring them along with you when you wanted to use them. But lounge passes might be most valuable when you least expect to need them — perhaps there's a flight cancellation or bad weather that extends your stay in the airport by hours. You'd have to hope you remembered to bring your passes with you, or that you could get someone at home to send you a photo of the pass' barcode for the lounge agent to scan.
Well, soon you'll be able to access these passes anytime. Starting in November, Chase and United are switching over to digital for these two annual free passes.
According to a copy of the notice posted on Imgur, you'll receive an email when your digital passes are available. Once you get this email, here's how you'll be able to access them:
- Download and sign into the United app.
- Using the navigation bar, choose "United Clubs."
- Select the one-time pass you would like to use.
- Present this digital pass to the United Club agent with your boarding pass.
For those that still prefer paper passes, you'll be able to print passes from United.com:
- Sign into your MileagePlus account at United.com.
- Under the "My MileagePlus Account" header, navigate to the "View United Club One-Time Passes and Club Pass History."
It's important to note that this switch to digital passes will make it easier for Chase to cancel them if you cancel your credit card. As noted in the flyer: "If your Credit Card account is closed, United and Chase reserve the right to remove the United Club one-time passes from your MileagePlus account."
