Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend that you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using the American Express Platinum Card, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.

A few weeks ago Star Alliance partners were offering inexpensive flights to Switzerland, but today it's Delta's turn for a sale from the East Coast! You'll find New York and Philadelphia to Zurich in April and May for as low as $324, and Boston and Philadelphia to Zurich in August, September and October for $440 to $480.

Note that while these fares will price higher on Google Flights, you can get the lower price by booking at Priceline, which also offers 24-hour cancellation if you change your mind in the first day after booking. Also, remember that while some other discount online travel agencies (OTAs) may show even lower prices on these routes, many of the ultra-cheap options require long layovers, multiple stops or even a change of airport.

How we chose these cards

Our points-obsessed staff uses a plethora of credit cards on a daily basis. If anyone on our team wouldn’t recommend it to a friend or a family member, we wouldn’t recommend it on The Points Guy either. Our opinions are our own, and have not been reviewed, approved, or endorsed by our advertising partners.
