Oneworld Mega Do 2012 Booking Information
Many of you first heard of the term "Mega Do" when I went on the Star Alliance Mega Do this September. In a nutshell, an airline Mega Do is a frequent flyer dream trip - chartered jets full of mileage junkies, airline geeks, travel industry big wigs and everything in between. The Star Alliance event was my first and I was completely blown away - the amount of access the airlines and hotels gave was unprecedented - plus the perks were great too (including Hyatt Diamond status!). I was completely exhausted by the end of the week, but after I got a couple nights of sleep I was already itching to go on the next Mega Do, which will be with Oneworld January 23-28, 2012.
This time around, the same group leaders within the frequent flyer world (think Randy Petersen, the messiah founder of Flyertalk and Milepoint) have planned a show stopping event with the Oneworld alliance, including American Airlines, British Airways and Qantas. Additionally, the event will have Hyatt and Boeing components and all signs point to a memorable event. (See the full schedule below).
So how do you get in on the fun? Booking first becomes available today, October 26, 2011 at 10am central time for those who attended the launch event in October. The general public can book seats starting at 10am Central time on Thursday October 27, 2011. Ypu can always check the Mega Do site for more information.
This will book up quickly, so I highly recommend confirming your availability now and booking tickets as soon as they become available. While they aren't super-cheap, I still think they are modestly priced because it also includes admission to the events.
Domestic Portion:
First Class- $1,699
Tommy Class Exit Row- $1,299 (This is the front of the economy cabin and has the middle seat blocked out a la European business class)
Tommy Class- $1,199 (This is the front of the economy cabin and has the middle seat blocked out a la European business class)
Economy- $799
International portion JFK-LHR and LHR-DFW pricing is still TBD, but you can indicate interest when you purchase your domestic ticket.
Since my new site travelcreditcards.com is a sponsor of the event, I got to book my tickets early and test the site out and I have to say I'm impressed. There's an interactive seat map that will show who has already purchased seats, so you'll be able to see that I already bought two Tommy Class Exit Row seats. One for me and one for a seatmate (hint, hint ... there may be another contest coming!). Last time I flew first, but the party is in coach, so I'm looking forward to riding in the back of the bus this time around (though for the European portion I'll most likely spring for the discounted business class).
