In an effort to promote its newish Smartphone app, Expedia is offering a few discounts on mobile hotel bookings that can add up to $50 off - or 25% savings depending on how you look at it.

You can download the app here, and it's available for iPhone, Android and Windows phone. Then when you make a new hotel booking using your mobile app between now and 11:59PM PT on January 1, 2014, at an eligible hotel for a stay between now and January 1, 2014 and enter the coupon code MOBILECHEER, you'll get an instant rebate of $50 off your stay of $200 or more (not including taxes) - so this could be a good way to save on a last-minute New Year's Eve hotel booking. Just note, there are a lot of non-eligible hotels including some big groups like Starwood and Marriott, so you might have to do a little sleuthing to make sure the hotel you're booking is eligible, though getting a 25% discount is worth the effort.

The coupon cannot be stacked with any other promotions and there's a limit of one per user account and hotel booking. It is only available to US customers. The site is also offering Expedia Rewards members who download the app and link it to their membership account by December 31, 2013, 500 bonus Expedia Rewards points. Elite Plus members earn 1,000 bonus Expedia Rewards points.

If you can't make your booking and stay by January 1, Expedia is also offering $25 off hotel bookings of $100 or more by March 31, 2014 when you use the app to make a booking of $100 or more using the promo code MOBILE25.

There’s a lot to love about the Amex Gold. It’s a fan favorite thanks to its fantastic bonus-earning rates at restaurants worldwide and at U.S. supermarkets. If you’re hitting the skies soon, you’ll also earn bonus Membership Rewards points on travel. Paired with up to $120 in Uber Cash annually (for U.S. Uber rides or Uber Eats orders, card must be added to Uber app and you can redeem with any Amex card), up to $120 in annual dining statement credits to be used with eligible partners, an up to $84 Dunkin’ credit each year at U.S. Dunkin Donuts and an up to $100 Resy credit annually, there’s no reason that foodies shouldn’t add the Amex Gold to their wallet.
