Marriott’s Autograph Collection spans more than 60 hotels across the globe, and while these independent properties may not bear the Marriott name, they still offer all the benefits of the Marriott Rewards loyalty program. TPG Contributor Lane Nieset highlights eight hotels you may be surprised to know are part of the Marriott Autograph Collection.

Atlantis, Paradise Island Coral Towers

1. Atlantis, Paradise Island – Paradise Island, Bahamas

One of the newest hotels to join the collection, Atlantis, Paradise Island is a tropical paradise for both adults and kids. There are five towers with several different room categories from which to choose, so guests can find the right room for their budget while still receiving access to Atlantis’ five-star amenities. Parents want to hit the grand on-site Atlantis Casino? Check. Kids want to play all day at the waterpark? Atlantis has one of the largest in the world, complete with waterslides plunging through shark-filled aquariums into a man-made lagoon. If this isn’t enough to get the entire family on board, there are also 21 restaurants (some helmed by celebrity chefs), 19 bars, an 18-hole golf course, and Dolphin Cay, where guests can swim with dolphins.

Rewards & Rates: Since the five hotel options at Atantis range from value-friendly accommodations to beachside luxury suites, the Marriott Rewards Categories vary from 7 to 9. The family friendly Coral Towers, for example, are Category 7 and require 35,000 points for a one-night stay, and rates start at $320 per night. The Category 9 Cove is a luxury tower with an adults-only pool and beach club requiring 45,000 points for a one-night stay or rates starting at $625 per night.

2. Turnberry Isle Resort – Aventura, Florida

Known for two of the top golf courses in Florida, the Soffer and Miller courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and later revamped by Raymond Floyd, Turnberry Isle Resort is an iconic hotel tucked between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. With a design based on a 100-year-old banyan tree that still stands/spreads on the 300-acre property, the sprawling resort offers everything from a four-star, Forbes-rated spa to a lazy river and waterslide, as well as a tennis center, marina, beach club, and four restaurants, including award-winning chef Michael Mina’s BOURBON STEAK. Plus, the hotel offers free shuttle service to nearby Aventura Mall, one of the top shopping spots in Miami.

Rewards & Rates: As a Marriott Rewards Category 7, Turnberry Isle requires 35,000 points for a one-night stay or rates that start at $299 per night plus $21.95 daily resort fee.

Brown Palace Hotel

3. Brown Palace Hotel – Denver, Colorado

The luxe Brown Palace Hotel is a landmark in its own right, with its downtown Denver location dating back to 1892 and the Gold Rush. Nowadays this spot offers a goldmine of other things, from an atrium lobby that soars eight floors to the famous rooftop beehives that provide honey for afternoon tea. The 241-room hotel is decked out in Victorian style, so expect elegant rooms that are fit for royalty, or rock royalty, anyway, since one of the suites is dubbed the Beatles Suite in reference to the band’s stay here in 1964. Other suites invoke White House-style living, like the Roosevelt and Eisenhower suites, once again named after the famous personalities who stayed here.

Rewards & Rates: The AAA four-diamond hotel is a Marriott Rewards Category 7 hotel requiring 35,000 points per night, with rates starting at $215 per night.

The 125-room, AAA four-diamond hotel is within walking distance of shops and restaurants, and set just across from Forsyth Park, but there’s also plenty to do on-site, from cooking classes to treatments at the Poseidon Spa. You’ll also find over 400 original pieces of art spread throughout the property (the hotel is part of the art-focused Kessler Collection), as well as chic Versace furniture in the lobby.

Equal parts sexy and chic, this luxury hotel offers rooms with wraparound terraces and panoramic skyline views, as well as multi-level suites with private terraces and heated plunge pools. The hotel also has endless amenities from the Sahra spa and hammam with its monsoon cave and steam room, to the rooftop Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub and celebrity chef-helmed restaurants like David Myers’ Comme Ça and José Andrés’ China Poblano.

6. Boscolo Budapest – Budapest, Hungary

The Baroque-style, five-star hotel is set in a 19th-century building on the Grand Boulevard in the heart of the city near sites like the famous Szechenyi Bath and the Danube river. The hotel’s interior is just as grand as it looks from the outside, with Italian furniture, silk wallpaper, Murano chandeliers and the classic coffee house, the New York Café, dating back to 1894.

Rewards & Rates: This 185-room, Category 7 hotel requires 35,000 points for one night, or rates start at 119 Euros ($148 US).

Scrub Island Resort

7. Scrub Island Resort, Spa and Marina – Scrub Island, British Virgin Islands

Christopher Columbus came across Scrub Island 500 years ago, and now the private island is the home of Scrub Island Resort, with 26 guestrooms, 26 suites, and seven private hillside villas. Located near Tortola, guests can only reach the island by ferry or helicopter transfer. Rooms are decorated in a British colonial style with L’Occitane bath amenities and ocean views, but if you want the ultimate in luxury on the island, the villas feature some of the best views of the neighboring islands, plus private infinity or plunge pools. The resort also has the Ixora Spa by L’Occitane, set up on the hillside with sweeping views that can be seen from the treatment rooms.

Rewards & Rates: This Marriott Rewards Category 8 hotel requires 40,000 points, and rates start at $435 per night.

8. Threadneedles Hotel – London, England

Once the home of a Victorian bank that dates back to 1856, the elegant Threadneedles Hotel is set in the City of London near St. Paul’s Cathedral and The Shard. While the historic building still has its original marble floors, spiral staircase in the lobby, and a stained-glass dome overhead, the 74 guest rooms take on a more modern look. For a private stay in a tucked-away part of the hotel, the penthouse has its own elevator and butler service, as well as a balcony with city views.
