Registration is now open for Hilton’s 2013 Q1 Double Your HHonors Promotion, which runs from January 7 through March 31, 2013. HHonors members can earn double Hilton HHonors points or double miles when they stay at participating hotels and resorts.

To earn the double points/miles, you must register prior to check-out of first stay within the promotion period and once you register, your selection cannot be changed.

If you choose double points, you will earn double the base points – so no elite bonuses – while if you choose double miles, you must have selected the points + fixed miles or points + variable miles option and designated a preferred carrier.

If you have some award stays coming up, members may earn double points (not miles) for incidental charges at participating hotels within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio during a reward stay, provided such charges are deemed eligible folio charges. This does not apply to incidental charges for stays at Hampton, Home2 Suites or Homewood Suites.

Also note that if your stay begins before the promo period or ends after, you will only receive the selected bonus for the nights of an eligible stay completed during the promotion period, regardless of a check-in date before the promotion period begins or a check-out date after the promotion period ends.

While this isn’t the most lucrative hotel promo we’ve seen, it is still a good opportunity to earn some bonus points with Hilton. However, double check the non-participating property list to make sure the property you are staying at is participating as there is a long list of hotels especially in the U.S. that have opted out from this promotion. Be sure to choose carefully because your selection cannot be changed. Bonus points will post within six to eight weeks after the promotion has concluded.

Terms and Conditions:

Offer valid for eligible stays completed between January 7 and March 31, 2013 (“Promotion Period”) at any participating hotel in the Hilton Worldwide portfolio (click here for hotels who have chosen to not participate). Hilton HHonors™ members must first register at HHonors.com/Double prior to check-out of first stay within the Promotion Period. Your selection of Double Points or Double Miles applies to all eligible stays completed during the Promotion Period at participating hotels and cannot be changed. Registered HHonors members will receive the selected bonus only for nights completed during the Promotion Period, regardless of a check-in date before the Promotion Period begins or a check-out date after the Promotion Period ends. If registering for Double Miles, you must select Points and Variable Miles or Points and Fixed Miles as your Double Dip™ Earning Style within your HHonors profile. “Double Points” means you will receive a bonus equal to the number of Base Points earned during a stay. Bonus Points earned on Base Points do not count toward tier qualification. Double Miles are available only with participating airlines. A preferred airline must be selected in your HHonors profile. Airline Miles accrued and awards issued are subject to the Terms and Conditions of each participating airline’s reward program, as applicable. Certain airlines may not participate with the brand at which your stay is consumed. For details on the eligibility of your stay to earn miles, please click here. Please allow six to eight weeks from completion of your stay for points or miles to appear in your HHonors account. Offer is not transferable and cannot be combined with other select offers.

Yay! I have an upcoming business trip at a Hampton and I just signed up for a Hilton card. Should get some good points going for an upcoming vacation.

If you choose double points, you will earn double the base points – so no elite bonuses –

    – Do you mean that you won’t earn double elite bonus pts or you won’t earn elite bonus points at all if you register for double points?

  • Paul

Why do some hotels opt out? Does it cost them money to participate?

Says I’m not eligible to register for the promotion!

    Just kidding, it worked now.

The double points will be calculated on the base points you earn, not on your base points + elite bonus. Your elite bonus will be calculated off the base points you earn as well, not off the base points + bonus points.

To me this promotion is not so bad. I take lots of little trips, so my “double dip” is points and fixed miles. 500 additional US Air miles for every stay is, to me, about $10 per stay.

  • Linda

I just started reading traveling blogs. Can someone explain to me what “double dip” means?

  • Ghh

It worked. was getting a message last week telling my to call the 800 number. i called and the person on the other end of the line didn’t know about the promotion. Anyway, it worked this time.

The article states that we get double the “Base Points” which would also translate to double the Elite Bonus points.

Example with Gold Elite Status (25% bonus pts):
    Normal: $100 stay = 1000 base pts + 250 Gold elite bonus
    Promotion: $100 stay = 2000 base pts + 500 Gold elite bonus

Unless the article is wrong, and we don’t get a double of base points, but instead get Bonus Points equal to the base points we normally earn.

Example with Gold Status (25% bonus pts):
    Normal: $100 stay = 1000 base pts + 250 Gold elite bonus
    Promotion: $100 stay = 1000 base pts + 1000 “double” bonus points + 250 Gold elite bonus

    Can you please clarify again?
    Thanks!
