1,500 United Miles and 5 Miles Per Dollar at Gilt Groupe

in Continental, Free Miles/ Points, Gilt, United

My love for deals is not limited to the travel world. I like expensive clothes, but I hardly ever pay full price for them thanks to sites like Gilt Groupe. And now I’m about to go on a spending spree, because they are offering 1,500 United/Continental miles for simply signing up and then making a purchase and then you earn 5 miles for every dollar spent for the first 6 months. A pretty lucrative offer, but it’s only open to new members, so it might make sense to just register using a different email address (I didn’t tell you that).

Gilt isn’t just clothes – they have Gilt City, which is daily deals in different cities, Jetsetter (travel deals) and Park & Bond (full-priced menswear).

Terms and Conditions:
1. A member can earn the 1,500 bonus reward miles for their first transaction with Gilt Groupe. Registration with Gilt Groupe is required to earn this bonus.
2. A member can earn 5 reward miles per one U.S. dollar for any transaction with Gilt Groupe in the first 6 months after registration.Registration with Gilt Groupe is required to earn reaward miles with Gilt Groupe.
3. This offer is only valid for new Gilt Groupe members who registered through this program.
4. Please allow as much as 6–8 weeks for miles earned to postto the registered account.
5. This offer is not limited to members who received this email, however program registration with Gilt Groupe at http://www.gilt.com/unitedis required. Registration can be closed at anytime without notice.
6. This offer is not combinable with other OnePass offers.
7. Miles accrued, rewards issued and bonus offers are subject to the rules of the OnePass program. The OnePass program, including accruals, rewards and bonus mile offers is subject to change without notice. Continental, OnePass, are registered service marks. For complete details about the Onepass program, visit onepass.com.
8. Offer subject to change without notice. Other restrictions may apply.

Good find. I wonder if they bought all of the miles from United or is United sponsoring this offer?

I never used Gilt Groupe but I will probably sign up to get those extra miles. Maybe even get some new shirts and shoes out of it. Thanks.

  • Nathan Keirn

Wow they sell $25 jeans for $78. It’s a site clearly designed for people who like to think they buy luxury goods but really just pay to much for pesants clothes.

  • Csjohns7

    Kind of Random qustion.

But does any of the stuff on Gilt fit you?

I know you’re like 6’7″. I’m 6’6″ with a long torso. I wear tall sized shirts and extra tall in suits/blazers.

I hesitate to order stuff online because of this.

  • BRB

    1) I noticed you can use either United or Continental FF #. I wonder if you can get a double bonus.
    2) Does anyone know if any shopping portal gives miles for Gilt Group, I didn’t see T&C preventing double-dipping.
    3) They have a great sale on Jan Leslie cufflinks

I bought some socks for $12 last night plus $5 shipping.

  • http://twitter.com/Afkabp Afkabp

Was that the cheapest item you could find?

  • Chuck Schick

The style lately has been to wear sleeves that fall about 4″ short of reaching the wrist and pants that fall about 6″ short of reaching the ankle. Gilt gear is perfect for a man of your physique.

Hah.. I agree online shopping is harder for those of us “vertically enhanced”, but I usually just get brands that I know fit me. Though they do have a pretty painless return policy so I never worry too much if it fits

  • Mike

Anybody know what the cheapest item is? The shipping charge is killing the deal for me, because I can get this stuff for free on Amazon using gift cards.

    there’s a 1lb of daikon for $1.95 if you are curious :)

ugh, I just bought one of the Cyber Monday jetsetter discounted travel credits packages. Wish I had known about this 2 days ago! win some, lose some I guess.

Amex MR shopping portal offering 4x MR pts when use Amex card

  • Guest

McAfee thinks the site is a scam. Have you been using it long?

  • arjun

Where do you find daikon under? I don’t see a search field to search it.

  • Anonymous

Gilt is extremely popular and in no way a scam

  • Guest

Cool – Mcafee worries too much sometimes, but I wanted to check. There’s also a 20% discount for using your jetsetter email, so assuming they can be combined it’s a pretty good offer.

    Taste->Produce->Sort by Price

    Shipping is $9.95 though

  • arjun

    awesome, thanks!

  • scwam

Wow, a lot of that produce is what I have with my in-laws in China when they make their korean meals. Impressive selection.

I ended up getting Bourbon Barrel Mini Maple Syrup. $5.95 + $5.95 shipping. Roughly the same price as the daikon, but this is something I’ll actually use.

Hmm… is there any way to make sure I registered properly and will get the miles with my first order? I mistakenly clicked on the link to their front page and registered there, but quickly realized the screwup, clicked on the united promo link, re-registered using the same email address, and it seemed to go through ok. If I try to register again, it gives an error that the email address is already registered. I haven’t gotten a single email from them yet.

I placed a small order and haven’t gotten an email confirming that order either. I’m sure it’s that I’m spoiled by amazon and several other major e-tailers, but it seems weird to not have confirmation of the account creation or order almost immediately.

Good call, did that too. Wanted some of the artisan cheese instead, which is only a dollar more, but found that the shipping had to be express for cheese which made the shipping cost $14.95.

“A member can earn the 1,500 bonus reward miles for their first transaction with Gilt Groupe”

Does the purchase have to be completed by a certain date?

    Great find :)

  • tgienger

Nice find on the syrup. Registered and ordered. Both me and wife! Wonder if I can register both of us with our OnePass accounts and other emails? Rinse and repeat! LOL.

  • tgienger

Wonder if this will qualify for a transaction in the “months of misery” promotion too?

  • pcp

Gilt City is great for us travelers..earlier this year my wife found a gilt city discount to swim and train with Beluga Whale’s at the Chicago aquarium. It was an awesome deal and we had lots of fun. The discount was over 50% and we were able to talk to them on the phone to answer our questions before booking the event for the next day (we were on vacation in Chicago)… I always check them when I travel to big US cities (NYC, etc)…hope this helps someone!

  • CorinneL.

Hi Brian! I just got this email and signed up today as well. I was wondering do you know about the emiles site? I signed up through continental a while back and take their minute long surveys or sign up for emails for great sites like bloomspot, savored, open sky, etc and earn miles for Continental/United. You get to deposit to your onepass or milageplus account every time you hit 500 miles. I’ve deposited an extra 2000 miles into my account in the past couple of weeks. I don’t think that’s bad for the hour I spent answering questions.

  • Robert MacGregor

I did two orders with different emails, billing, and shipping addresses (and different browsers). One with my onepass, one with mileage plus. The only thing that might link them is my name, IP address, and the fact that the billing address for one was the shipping address for the other. But I bet it will work! I ordered things that are at least somewhat useful as gifts anyways.

  • Raj B

Bought one pound of coffee beans — $16.95 + $5.95 s/h. Not a bad deal for 1,500 miles, plus 4x MR points for using my AMEX.

  • Asdf

100 Japanese Bamboo skewers (fancy toothpicks) for $9.95, + 5.95 shipping, $15.90 for 1500 miles, I’ll take it. I was tempted by the $2.95 bamboo sushi mat, but I’ll probably use the skewers.

However, I’m not sure that such a high-end shop should be named “Guilt” – oh, the irony.

    Thanks for the tip!

  • dale m

Cute, possibly perfect toy on sale for granddaughter, 15 plus 5 shipping.

  • Boom

    2 sushi mats, 2 email addresses, a OP #, and a MP # later, I’m looking at 3,000 miles for 0.59 cpm.

  • Jess Pruz

Is there a link via onepass shopping portal?

  • Up&Away

There’s some sort of promo for 5 cent shipping on Murray’s brand cheese but I can’t seem to make it work. Any ideas? Theres some cheese I would be interested in trying for $8.95. If I could make the 5 cent shipping work it would be a great deal.

  • hc

Is there any way to combine this with the customer referral?

  • Anonymous

No- you need to sign up through the United link

    11. Initial transaction must meet a $25 minimum product value (exclusive of taxes and/or shipping and handling fees) in order to qualify for the 1,500 bonus mile offer.

  • Roknroll

I can get 4x points from the AMEX shopping/earn portal. I registered for the promo and signed up for a new account through United. Is it possible to double dip here? It sounds like you just register a new account using the United link, and then all transactions will get 5 miles/$ for the first 6 months and the first transaction over $25 will get 1,500 bonus miles.

Do you think if I go to Gilt through the AMEX portal, it will negate the United miles?

  • tpat

Looks like they’ve changed the terms & conditions to a minimum of a $25 purchase to earn the miles:
“11. Initial transaction must meet a $25 minimum product value (exclusive of taxes and/or shipping and handling fees) in order to qualify for the 1,500 bonus mile offer. ”

I wonder if they’ll honor the points for purchases made before they changed the terms.

  • tpat

Oops – I see this has already been posted.

  • Michael

The change in the T&C has left a bad taste in my mouth (now a min $25 purchase). Have not seen any miles yet, I wonder if we will…

  • Michael

I looked for oldest posts at the bottom. Repost, sorry!

  • Tessa

Until when is the offer valid? I signed up, but I am having a hard time finding that my Continental OnePass membership is linked to my purchase, eventhough I joined from the Continental site…

  • Jarredbradley

They did change this later AFTER I spent $17.00. I want to know if I will see my points too. I have not yet…

  • arglebargle

Further change in T&C, looks like–now minimum spend is up to $50.

I was in the same situation. Terms changed the day before my purchase. I asked Gilt if I could still qualify (even offered to buy something else as a ‘challenge’) but they said United won’t allow that. They were pretty responsive and reasonable though and did offer some store credit.

  • Apassionforpurses

I signed up through United Airlines on the same day the offer came though. This was through the link United sent me via email. I placed my order for $16.95 1 hour later the same day. I have been fighting for my 1,500 points ever since. Lost the battle. Gilt says they have no record of me signing up through United. They refunded me for my purchase because I wouldn’t stop fighting for my points. No points, No deal, Very disappointing! So, if you don’t get your 1,500 points, then at least get a refund for your purchase.

  • slomichael

after 2 months of fighting to get my 1500, they settled with 2500 and a $30 credit to my Gilt account. i had the forsight to print the T & C on the day i joined and purchased, but i did have to finally a speak with a Superivor (Kaitlin).
