750 Free United Miles With MyPoints

Update: I actually wrote about this in February and I did get the miles (along with another commenter) so it seems reasonable enough to assume these should post in about a month or so.

I recently got an email offer for 500 free United miles for signing up for MyPoints, but before I could sign up TPG reader foofiter tweeted me about a 750 point sign-up offer, which I happily jumped on. Sign-up link.

Easy miles

Once you sign up, I recommend verifying your email address (you’ll get an email with a link- you may want to create a new account, because you’ll probably get a good amount of spam) and then answering the first questionnaire which is made up of basic questions. That may be overkill, but I just wanted to make sure my account was fully active for the 30 days needed to get my points.

Remember, you can link your Continental and United accounts and transfer miles back and forth, so even if you don’t have a United account, you should create one so you capitalize on these types of offers while both programs still exist.

Per the T&C of this offer “After 30 days of active MyPoints membership, you will qualify for your 750 Mileage Plus bonus award miles.”

I don’t think I’ll really use MyPoints because it takes a lot of time and effort to accrue enough points that mean anything, but I’ll take the 750 free miles!

    You’ll get 750 points. It takes 5200 points(!) to get the 500 United miles. Figure on answering lots of surveys over 5 to 6 months to reach the 5200 point mark. Used to do this but it took too much time for too little of a payoff —————–

    No, per the registration page “Earn 750 Award Miles with United Mileage Plus”

    They are United miles, not MyPoints points

    I do not see anything about the miles in the T&Cnor is there anything about it on the sign up page. Can you double check and see if the offer has been pulled already.

    Brian, I’m interested in doing this, but have to start a Mileage Plus account first. (It’s been all OnePass until now.)

    Are there any sign-up offers (or ways of helping other readers) available? A quick Google search found a sign-up offer that expired December 31, 2010, but some insiders may know of still-active offers.

    TPG, Sorry to remind you but you wrote about this in Feb. Still a easy way to earn 750 points but annoying how many email you get.

    Mypoints is not very useful as a mileage accruing proposition – you get better value in redeeming mypoints for gift certificates. It’s minimal effort but certainly more than credit card deals. I redeem at least $50 a year.

    I tried a couple of these things, mypoints, e-miles, whatever. Complete waste of time for me at least. I think I spent 20 minutes answering prelim questions and was never actually qualified to take a survey. But the signup bonus was quick and easy.
