Update: This appears to be targeted, so don’t be surprised if you install and don’t find the 15% offer.

American Airlines is encouraging AAdvantage members to download their desktop deal application “Dealfinder” by offering a 15% off coupon on a future flight.

Q: What is American Airlines DealFinder?
A: DealFinder is a downloadable desktop tool offered by American Airlines which allows you to receive automatic, personalized fare alerts and other information via your computer desktop. Once you download the tool and set your travel preferences, DealFinder will alert you about deals to your favorite destinations. By creating searches for your upcoming trips, DealFinder will also show you the current lowest prices and alert you when the price is at or below your target price. The application can also help you stay up to date with news, information and promotions from American Airlines.

I installed the application (for blog writing purposes) and I found the process to be pretty quick and easy. I had entered JFK as my home airport and I noticed my 15% off coupon was for domestic round-trips starting and ending in one of the NYC airports. I assume that requirement will change if you enter a different home airport (so keep that in mind when registering).

“As a DealFinder subscriber, please enjoy this exclusive 15% off* discount on your next flight! Book your flight by August 12, 2011, for travel September 6 through November 14, 2011 and save!

Your Exclusive DealFinder Promotion Code: DF2NYC1W (someone can use mine, because I refuse to give any business to American Airlines – read more here)

*To qualify, book your reservations on by 11:59 p.m. (CT) Friday, August 12, 2011, and travel September 6, 2011 through November 14, 2011. The 15% discount is valid on round-trip** travel, for up to four passengers between Newark, John F. Kennedy, and La Guardia airports and the US***. A Saturday night minimum stay and $200 minimum fare is required. Just enter the DealFinder promotion code and save! For additional terms and restrictions visit”

As I’ve moaned about before, fares have been rising lately, so every discount counts!

Sweet! Is Costco still selling the AA gift cards for 10% off? Would this deal be stackable with that one?

  • gregory

Per the T&C: “Eligible travel: New reservations made on for one-way or round-trip* travel … *Round-trip travel is defined as travel from your city TO the destination, and FROM the same destination back to the city where you originated travel with no deviations. ” So, Multi-City will not work …

Can this be used in addition to goodwill vouchers?

  • jaba

ah, thanks. should’ve been paying closer attention.

Man, I installed this whole piece of poo only to find that I didn’t get no stinkin’ coupon. Bah humbug!

  • RakSiam

too bad I’m not needing any more tickets until early 2012…but this sounds like a nice little deal. I might install it anyway.

I just downloaded Dealfinder, but do not find anything listed under the offers tab :(

  • susiem

i downloaded dealfinder and did not find the 15% offer as well :(

This deal is a promo code. The AA gift cards are a method of payment and one can use up to 8 of them to pay for one itinerary (for 1 or more people).

    They should be stackable.

15% promo code appears to be targeted. I, as well, did not get a code after installing.

    Boo..yet another AA fail

  • Anonymous

Yea, I know. I’m starting to dislike AA. And even though I don’t have elite status, I have enough AA miles that might convince me to accrue more of them then fly on a oneworld partner.

  • smartcookie

Make sure to log into your AAdvantage account to redeem these. AA codes often don’t work if you don’t.

  • Rg

they should say that the 15% discount is ONLY for your next DOMESTIC flight!!!! I did it thinking I will have the discount in my next International one! : (((

I didn’t receive the offer code either and I use NYC airports as my home. I have tried calling and emailing for help but everyone is extremely unhelpful.

Why can’t these clowns for once just post the damn code instead of making people jump through hoops all the time? It’s discouraging.
