There’s a reason the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is a favorite among points beginners and enthusiasts alike. You simply can’t beat the outsize value this low-annual-fee travel card delivers, so I’ll let the numbers speak for themselves.
For starters, new cardholders can earn a generous 75,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. That’s worth more than $1,537 per our December 2025 valuations — not bad at all for a card whose annual fee doesn’t even break $100.
But my love for this card comes from the long-term value I get from earning Ultimate Rewards points on everyday spending. This card delivers strong earning rates on my big spending areas, like dining, online groceries, streaming services and travel.
And the points are worth so much to me because some of the 13 airline and hotel programs you can transfer them to are loaded with big-value opportunities. I’m talking about screaming deals like:
Lie-flat business-class seats to London on Virgin Atlantic starting at just 29,000 points one-way, plus taxes and fees — I’ve actually booked four of these seats in the last year using the points I’ve earned on this card. In fact, I got two of them for just 21,000 Chase points thanks to a 40% transfer bonus available at the time.
Rooms at Category 1 Hyatt properties starting at just 3,500 points per night — like the ones I stayed in 14 nights last year, all on points, saving more than $2,100! That’s more than 21 times the annual fee — just for using the card.
And what’s even more exciting is that the 75,000-point bonus available right now is a whopping 15,000 points higher than it was earlier this year. At our valuations, that’s an automatic $307 more in value!
If you haven’t already jumped on this bandwagon, I’d recommend hopping aboard. You’ll see why so many people consider this the card they’re keeping forever.
