Game of Thrones fans, get hyped — especially if you have a trip to Northern Ireland planned. We’ve already detailed some of the glorious GoT locations you can visit all over the world, however, HBO is now organizing specialized exhibits at Thrones locations on the Emerald Isle in light of the show’s final season. They are calling it the “Game of Thrones Legacy Series.”

Some of the notable featured attractions include Winterfell, Castle Black and King’s Landing. HBO will also be offering visitors tours of Linen Mill Studios, which will exhibit GoT material from various seasons and locations of the show. According to Variety, HBO is planning “on a scale and scope bigger than anything the public has ever seen,” for the tourist attractions, with guests gaining access to certain filming locations for the first time.

Each site will feature sets from the show as well as exhibits of GoT costumes, props, weapons, set decorations, art files, models and other production materials. HBO has also expressed plans to incorporate some interactive material into the exhibits using the same special visual effects from the television show.

I’ve personally had the chance to visit The Dark Hedges (a GoT shooting location known canonically as “Kingsroad”) during a trip to Northern Ireland. I don’t watch the show, but I still consider the walk through the tunnel of those strange (yet gorgeous) trees a trip highlight. Definitely something worth seeing despite your Thrones knowledge, especially on one of those quintessential Irish, gloomy days.

As of now HBO and Tourism NI, the tourism company working in collaboration with HBO to create the “Game of Thrones Legacy” experience, are gunning to open the new attractions sometime in 2019 around the show’s season premiere. Until then, whether you venture out to Westeros on your own or take a fan tour that specializes in hitting every legendary spot, there are plenty of ways to get the GoT experience while visiting Ireland.
