The Fourth of July is right around the corner, so as you head to the airport for your beach trips, lake houses and other getaways, the Transportation Security Administration wants to remind you of one thing: Leave your fireworks at home.

With a record-breaking 3.8 million Americans expected to fly during peak days this Independence Day, it’s important to remember that fireworks are not allowed in either your checked or carry-on bag — that includes all firework novelty items, like sparklers and party poppers.

These fireworks were discovered in a checked bag at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW)

TSA expects to screen about 2.7 million passengers and crew on Friday, June 29 — a number that would set the record for its all-time busiest day ever. You can check out TSA’s Fourth of July travel tips if you’re wondering how to beat the crowds. Just remember to wait to buy your pyrotechnic supplies until after you’ve landed.
