Earn triple Avios on Vrbo bookings with your next vacation rental
If you're looking for another way to maximize your points and miles earning, British Airways is offering triple Avios on Vrbo bookings. This is in addition to your ability to earn bonus Avios with Airbnb stays and experiences.
Vrbo stands for "Vacation Rentals by Owner", and it's exactly what the acronym implies. If renting a "home away from home" is your travel style, let's look at how this offer works before you make your next booking.

Triple Avios on Vrbo bookings
You can earn 3 Avios per 1 British pound spent on eligible Vrbo bookings. There is no end date listed in the offer.
TPG values Avios at 1.5 cents each. Thus, 3 Avios are worth 4.5 cents. This is in addition to any credit card points you earn from your stay.

In order to earn your extra Avios, there are some important terms to understand:
- To be eligible, you must begin your booking at the landing page here.
- You can earn Avios with Airbnb but will not earn tier points toward British Airways elite status.
- You must provide your British Airways Executive Club number during the booking process.
- Avios are earned only on the rental cost and not on any additional fees, such as taxes or cleaning fees.
- The name on the reservation must match the name on the Executive Club account provided during booking; otherwise, Avios will not be awarded.
- Avios will be credited within eight weeks of eligible stays or activities.
- When a booking is made in a currency other than British pounds, it will be converted to determine the number of Avios earned.
- Full terms can be found here.
It's important to note that the terms say all bookings in currencies other than British pounds will be converted. Thus, you should note the current exchange rate to understand how many Avios you will earn. With today's exchange rate (£1 = $1.25), you would earn roughly 2.4 Avios for each dollar spent.
Maximize this promotion
You can earn Avios on your Vrbo rental, but that is just one side of the equation. You can also double-dip by earning a second set of points. This is based on what credit card you use.
The following cards can provide good value when paying for reservations with Airbnb:
- American Express® Green Card — earn 3 Membership Rewards points per dollar.
- Chase Sapphire Reserve — earn 3 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar.
- Ink Business Preferred Credit Card — earn 3 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar.*
- Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card — earn 2 Capital One miles per dollar.
- Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card — earn 2 Capital One miles per dollar
The information for the Amex Green card has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.
* Note that the Ink Preferred card earns 3 points per dollar on up to the first $150,000 of spending per year in bonus categories, which include travel, then 1 point per dollar.
Thus, you can earn points and miles from your credit card on top of the Avios you earn from the rental itself. We call this double-dipping on rewards.
