You'll probably need to budget more for your morning cup of joe at Starbucks. Without notice, the company has added between 10 and 20 cents to the price of regular drip coffee, depending on the location. That's an increase in price of nearly 10%.

Now, an order of the standard smallest size, ("tall" in barista parlance) cup of brewed coffee will cost you somewhere between $1.95 and $2.15, and customers aren't too thrilled.

Starbucks says that inflation is the reason for the price hike. Thankfully, though, other popular beverages served don't reflect the same price increase.

The groans of Starbucks customers started in April 2016 when Starbucks changed its rewards program, which had mixed reviews. On the upside, Starbucks started giving two stars per dollar spent instead of one star per transaction. But, you now need a whopping 125 stars for a free drink as opposed to the previous 12 stars. Plus, you'll need 300 stars to achieve Gold status instead of the original 30.

Starbucks has also been trying to expand its rewards program by introducing the Starbucks Rewards Visa Card in collaboration with Chase in February. With the card, you can earn stars redeemable in stores.
