Great news, Delta fliers with American Express cards: There’s a Amex Offer for the chance to get up to 20% cash back on upcoming Delta flight purchases.

For the uninitiated, Amex Offers are opt-in, limited-time deals, such as 20,000 bonus points / $200 cash back for spending $1,000 with Qantas (available through 9/23), $100 cash back for spending $500 with Aerolineas Argentinas (available through 9/27) and more, specifically for targeted American Express cardholders.

The latest opportunity is on Delta purchases, offering a $160 statement credit for spending $800 or more on “one or more transactions direct with Delta Air Lines”:

Don’t worry if your flight is less than $800 — you can make multiple purchases between the time you enroll in the offer and the October 8 deadline and they will all count toward the spending threshold. Note that purchases do have to be made “through US delta.com, via Fly Delta US App, and US reservation telephone line” and flights must originate in the US — including US territories — to count.

There's no restriction in the terms and conditions about purchasing gift cards, and TPG readers have reported success triggering this cashback offer when making Delta gift card purchases.

Remember that Amex Offers are targeted, so not every American Express card will be included in this promotion. In order to see if you’ve been targeted — and to enroll in the offer — log in to your AmericanExpress.com account. Scroll down to the “Amex Offers and Benefits” section. (You may need to click “Load More” to see the offer.)

Personally, I only found this offer on my Business Gold Rewards Card from American Express. Hopefully you’ll have better luck. Remember that if you have multiple cards linked under the same username/password, there’s a limit of one registration per Amex Offer, per cardholder. So, choose wisely if you have multiple targeted cards.

This great deal also serves as a reminder to check the entire list of Amex Offers in your account for rebates and extra point-earning opportunities on general purchases, as well as cash back on travel purchases charged to your Amex.
