Update 4/18/18 12:32pm ET: Brian Kelly, The Points Guy, reports from Puerto Rico that in Condado, some larger restaurants like Chili’s have power and TVs on. It’s not clear if they’re powered by generators.

A day after the Puerto Rican Power Authority announced that 97% of customers now have their power restored following Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico is experiencing an island-wide blackout.

Brian Kelly, The Points Guy, landed in Puerto Rico on Wednesday afternoon and confirms the San Juan International Airport (SJU) has no power and is operating on generators. The airport and airline are providing no further information at this time.

According to tweets from David Begnaud of CBS News, “There is ‘zero power generation at this point,’” and, “A fault was detected on the line 50700 which starts in Aguirre Central.”

The Puerto Rican Power Authority tweeted that it’s operating under a priority list to restore power as soon as possible. The list includes, in order, all hospitals, Luiz Muñoz Airport (SJU), gas stations and banking centers, followed by industries, shops and residences.

According to reports on the island, banks are closed, as well as the main mall.

Reports say it could take up to 36 hours to restore power.
