Passengers Vomit, Pass Out After Being Stuck on Plane With no AC for 3 Hours
If you thought your AC-less apartment was unbearable in this summer heat wave, imagine being stuck and cramped on an airplane for three hours with no airflow.
Passengers on Thomas Cook Airlines flight #MT1805, a low-cost carrier based in Machester, England (MAN), were traveling from Zakynthos International Airport (ZTH) to London Stansted Airport (STN) on Tuesday afternoon when their trip was delayed because of a "technical issue."
The 214 passengers ended up stuck on the plane for three hours with no air conditioning and inadequate water supplies. Some passengers even began to vomit and pass out from heat exhaustion.
Reportedly, passengers were repeatedly told the plane was about to take off in a few minutes.
"We tried to fix the issue so that we could get customers on their way as soon as possible, but we recognise that we should have disembarked the aircraft earlier. We are very sorry for the discomfort our customers experienced," the airline said in a statement. All customers received an apology letter from the airline, which detailed their entitlement to compensation when they arrived at London Stansted.
