We've never shied away from putting our favorite metal credit cards through the wringer — what, like it's weird to have a credit card stress test machine and weigh each new card that crosses our desk?

But while we already knew which cards are the strongest, the rebranding of the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card and its fancy new metal design (shipping to card holders over the next few weeks) got us thinking: Just what else we could do with these weighty pieces of metal?

Can they chop vegetables in a pinch, for instance? And would they come in handy if you just so happen to be short a pencil sharpener? The answer to these burning questions (and a look at our credit card stress machine in action) await in the video below.

How we chose these cards

Our points-obsessed staff uses a plethora of credit cards on a daily basis. If anyone on our team wouldn’t recommend it to a friend or a family member, we wouldn’t recommend it on The Points Guy either. Our opinions are our own, and have not been reviewed, approved, or endorsed by our advertising partners.
