Lyft is getting rid of one of its most popular features for users traveling in groups: Users will no longer be able to use the Split Pay feature, which allows you to split fares with other passengers.

A spokesperson for the ridesharing company confirmed to Business Insider that it had done away with the Split Pay feature, though it didn’t offer a reason for its removal. However, the spokesperson did say that “easier and smoother ways to split your fare” are coming next year. Exact details of those features remain unclear at this time.

In 2014, Lyft first added the Split Pay feature. With it, riders could split the cost of their ride between one or more passengers sharing the same ride. Uber, Lyft’s direct competitor, still features a split fare option for its riders.

Until the new feature(s) for splitting fares is rolled out on Lyft’s app, passengers looking to split the cost of a ride will have to resort to using other methods, such as Venmo.
