If you’re in Boston this weekend, you have a great shot at seeing the largest passenger jet in the world.

Emirates is planning a one-off flight of an A380 to Boston (BOS) this Saturday. The Dubai-based carrier currently operates a once-daily route between Dubai (DXB) and BOS, but that frequency is operated by a Boeing 777-300ER, not an A380.

Here is the schedule for this one-time frequency:

EK237 Dubai to Boston departing 8:15AM arriving 1:50PM
EK238 Boston to Dubai departing 11:10PM arriving 7:25PM (+1 day)

This one-off flight might be a clue that Emirates is considering swapping in the A380 on its daily Boston frequency. The airline, which has the world’s largest fleet of A380s with more than 100 of the aircraft in service, has in the past operated a one-off A380 flight on frequencies it later upgraded to the double-decker wide-body.

Boston does see its share of arriving A380s — British Airways flies the superjumbo into BOS 3x a week from London Heathrow (LHR). But if Emirates does decide to swap in the A380 on its daily DXB-BOS route, it will be Boston’s only daily frequency operated by an A380.

In January, Emirates single-handedly saved Airbus’ A380 by ordering 36 of the aircraft for a whopping $16 billion. The superjumbo jet was in danger of going out of production due to lack of sales.
