Delta’s back with another fantastic flash sale, this time offering discounted trips to the Hawaiian Islands. Flights are on sale from the continental US to Hawaii for as low as 33,000 SkyMiles round-trip.
You’ll have to book by Thursday, April 12 at 11:59pm for travel between August 14 and November 14, 2018. Both main cabin and Delta Comfort+ fares are on sale.
Like with its last promotion, Delta appears to have just select routes on sale. But on the promotion page, Delta says if you don’t see your home market to search for it to find “exclusive award pricing to Honolulu (HNL), Maui (OGG), Lihue (LIH), and Kona (KOA).” We found discounted flights below the advertised 35,000-mile sale price, so you may find even more deals when searching.
Check out all the discounted routes here. Here are a few examples of what you can book:
San Francisco (SFO) to Maui (OGG) for 33,000 miles and $11.20 round-trip:
Seattle (SEA) to Kona (KOA) for 35,000 miles and $11.20 round-trip:
Seattle (SEA) to Lihue (LIH) for 35,000 miles and $11.20 round-trip:
Los Angeles (LAX) to Honolulu (HNL) for 41,000 miles and $11.20 round-trip:
New York (JFK) to Honolulu (HNL) for 50,000 miles and $11.20 round-trip:
Minneapolis (MSP) to Honolulu (HNL) for 51,000 miles and $11.20 round-trip:
Although Delta doesn’t publish an award chart, flights from the continental US to Hawaii usually go for a minimum of 45,000 miles round-trip in economy.
This can be a decent use of SkyMiles, as the same San Francisco – Kahului, Maui flights are currently going for around $500 round-trip — meaning you’re getting about 1.5 cents per point, a little higher than the average 1.2 cents per mile, according to TPG‘s valuations.
Availability for discounted awards on the routes we searched seemed wide open in some cases and not so much in others. Watch out for blackout dates, which are listed at the bottom of the sale page for each destination.
Although you won’t be able to earn a welcome bonus in the next few days, consider applying for a Delta credit card the next time the carrier has a sale, which appears to happen on a monthly basis. These sales are just another reason why we are some TPG writers are retiring the term “SkyPesos” from their vocabulary.
