Choice Privileges isn’t the most popular hotel loyalty program. After all, the elite perks are minimal and the program’s best properties aren’t luxurious. In short, there are many ways in which Choice should improve its loyalty program.

But savvy travelers who love maximizing promotions can find value in the Choice Privileges program. I often choose Choice hotels due to its promotions and the value I can obtain from Choice points.

If you’re interested in exploring this underrated loyalty program, I’ve summarized all of the current Choice Privileges promotions you should consider. Many Choice Privileges promotions are only open to U.S.-based travelers, so read the terms and conditions carefully if you’re based elsewhere.

Earn at least 8,000 points from every two stays

Choice is currently offering a promotion where you’ll earn at least 8,000 Choice points for every two stays with check-in between March 14 and May 8, 2022. Based on TPG’s valuations, 8,000 Choice points are worth $48.

Before checking out from your first qualifying stay, you must register for the promotion here. Choice defines a “stay” as consecutive nights at one hotel regardless of check-ins or check-outs.

You must book your stays through a qualifying channel (which usually means booking directly with Choice) using a qualifying rate (most rates that earn Choice points are eligible). You’ll also need to stay at a qualifying property (WoodSpring Suites, Ascend Hotel Collection Penn National Gaming resorts and select other properties aren’t participating) in a qualifying country (stays in Japan, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Guyana and Ecuador won’t count).

Buy Choice points

You can typically buy Choice points for 0.99 to 1.21 cents per point. Redeeming Choice points can provide solid value in some destinations, so it’s always worth checking the award rate before booking a paid rate. For example, I can often get excellent value from Choice points during peak dates and when visiting expensive destinations.

But, sometimes Choice offers buy points promotions. Through April 29, Choice will give you a 15% bonus if you buy 6,000–11,000 points, a 20% bonus if you buy 12,000–19,000 points, a 30% bonus if you buy 20,000–29,000 points and a 40% bonus if you buy at least 30,000 points.

  • $3 Uber trip discount.

To get a perk on eligible weeknight stays, you must select the Your Extra that you want in your online Choice Privileges account. Once you’ve chosen an Extra, this choice will apply to all future stays. However, you can change your preferences at any time using your online account.

Diamond elite status jump

Choice Privileges’ top-tier Diamond status doesn’t provide many elite perks. However, it provides an elite point bonus on paid stays that’s significantly higher than your regular earnings. If you stay with Choice frequently, it may be worth boosting your status by using Cambria’s Diamond elite status jump.

You must first complete a qualifying stay at a Cambria hotel. Then, send an email to Status_Match@choicehotels.com with the following information:

  • Your full name.
  • Your Choice Privileges number.
  • Screenshot or copy of Cambria hotel guest folio/receipt from a stay within the last 12 months.
  • Proof of elite status in another hotel program. You can provide proof as a screenshot, copy or photo of your membership card in the other program (showing the expiration date) or your current account statement for the other program.

If your qualifying stay or request is between January and June, you’ll obtain Diamond elite status for the current year. If your qualifying stay and request are between July and December, you’ll get Diamond elite status through the end of the following year. You aren’t eligible for this promotion if you received a status match or elite status upgrade in a previous calendar year.
