Hyatt is running a new buy points promotions with a twist — users are being targeted for different bonuses in a new "mystery offer."
You can check here to see what your mystery bonus is. Once you've reached the landing page, log in with your World of Hyatt number and see what you've been targeted for.
It appears that the biggest bonus you'll see is 40%, although I was targeted for a 30% bonus. If you've received the highest bonus of 40% you should be able to buy a max of 75,600 points for $1,296. That means you'd be purchasing Hyatt points for about 1.71 cents apiece — TPG values Hyatt points at 1.8 cents each, so you'd be getting a slight discount at this price. '
Since the Hyatt award chart starts at 5,000 points a night, you're effectively buying nights at these properties for $86 each. And on the other end of the spectrum, top-tier Category 7 properties cost 30,000 points a night — meaning nights at those properties would go for about $514 each.
Additionally, you can stretch your points even further through Hyatt's Points + Cash redemptions, with Category 1 properties starting at just 2,500 points plus $50 a night.
There are plenty of awesome Hyatt properties that make great award redemptions — like the Park Hyatt Maldives. Rates at this Category 6 hotel can top $1,200 a night, but if you were to use points purchased through this promo you'd only be spending about $432 a night.

To receive the 40% bonus you'll have to buy a minimum of 5,000 points (purchases of 1,000 to 4,000 points won't receive a bonus) — and you'll have to buy points in increments of 1,000. The promotion ends at 11:59pm EST on August 21, 2018 and Hyatt caps points purchases at 55,000 a year.
If you're not interested in buying points, the new World of Hyatt Credit Card is currently offering an elevated 60,000-point sign-up bonus — you’ll get the first 40,000 points after you spend $3,000 within the first 3 months of account opening, then another 20,000 points after you spend $6,000 within the first 6 months of account opening. Additionally, World of Hyatt Credit Card holders can receive 10% of their points back when redeeming for award stays from August 1 through September 30, 2018.
You can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to World of Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio. The Ink Business Preferred Credit Card from Chase is currently offering a 80,000-point sign-up bonus after you spend $5,000 in three months, and the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Chase Sapphire Preferred Card are each offering 50,000-point sign-up bonuses after $4,000 in spend in three months.
Which Credit Card to Use to Purchase Points
Since these purchases are processed by Points.com, you'll want to use the best credit card to maximize the purchase. Note that these purchases generally don't code as travel. Consider putting the purchase on the Blue Business®️ Plus Credit Card from American Express, which earns 2x Amex Membership Rewards points on the first $50,000 spent each year; then 1x thereafter, or the Chase Freedom Unlimited with 1.5x Ultimate Rewards points on all purchases, are other solid options.
Update 5/29/2019: While Points.com purchases on the Ink Business Preferred have previously earned 3x points, recent purchases have only earned 1x point per dollar.
