This past week, we saw some new American Express targeted offers at MGM hotels, joining existing bonuses at Best Western and other brands. And today, Chase has released a new offer for select Marriott brands, a nice complement to existing discounts with other hotel booking sites. If you’re a Chase cardholder and you’re planning hotel stays this fall, you should check your Chase Offers portal.
TPG Editor Nick Ewen noticed a new offer on Oct. 5 on his Chase Sapphire Reserve for 15% back at one of four Marriott brands: Four Points, Courtyard, SpringHill and Fairfield.
This is similar to one he had that just expired on Oct. 4, but it’s even more lucrative this time around, as the previous offer was capped at $35 back, whereas you can earn up to $47 back this time around (as long as you spend at least $100). You have one month to use it, as you must complete payment for your stay by November 5, 2019. It’s also a one-time-only offer, so if you have multiple stays over the next month, you’ll want to make sure to swipe the card for the most expensive one to maximize your discount.
And even if you don’t have a stay at any of these brands, that’s not the only offer available.
Numerous TPG staffers have reported an offer for 5% back from HotelTonight, which I have on my Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card. This is valid for up to $15 back, and you’ll need to book directly at the website before Oct. 16.
If you aren’t familiar, HotelTonight is a booking app that helps travelers find hotels in different cities around the world. If you’re someone who lives life on the edge and take last-minute trips — or if you arrive in a destination and find out there’s a problem with a hotel — HotelTonight is a good option.
We’re also seeing a handful of other hotel offers:
- 10% back at Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites or Candlewood Suites when you spend a minimum of $100 (up to a $38 discount) — expires Oct. 11, 2019
- 15% back at AC Hotels when you spend a minimum of $100 (up to a $35 discount) — expires Oct. 11, 2019
- 10% back at Best Western, Best Western Plus or Best Western Premier when you spend a minimum of $100 (up to a $29 discount) — expires Oct. 31, 2019
- 5% back at Airbnb (up to a $28 discount) — expires Nov. 11, 2019
Note that each offer has different requirements, so you’ll want to review the full details to make sure you meet them and earn the cash back. Keep in mind that you’ll need to book directly with each of the respective providers, and since some expire within the next week, don’t wait to book!
Regardless of which offer you choose, you should receive the statement credit within 14 days.
With any of these offers, you won’t earn the bonus on third-party purchases, so you’ll want to book directly with the applicable program. However, this will ensure you still get points in the applicable loyalty program, and since the credit is issued to your card account, you should still earn points on the full amount of the stay.
To check whether you’ve been targeted, head over to the Chase Offers portal on the website or the Chase mobile app.
If you don’t currently have a Chase card and want to make sure you don’t miss any future offers, you might consider applying for the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, as the card recently increased its sign-up bonus to 60,000 Ultimate Rewards points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
