Disney World is expensive (and not for everyone), but if you decide to take your family, you will be faced with a series of decisions related to what is worth a splurge and what to skip. Once upon a time, the best $69 you could spend at Disney World got you “private” access beginning precisely at 7:45am to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan’s Flight and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train within Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom. You were able to cap off your morning with breakfast at Pinocchio Village Haus before your special access ended and you turned back into a regular park-going pumpkin at 10am.
As long as you could wake up early, this special access was worth its weight in Pixie Dust because Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Peter Pan can both easily be a one- or two-hour wait during the heat of the day. Getting FastPass+ reservations, especially to Mine Train, often requires either a Disney Resort reservation and planning at (more than) 60 days out, or a whole lot of luck. Throw in a ride or two on Winnie the Pooh, breakfast and a perfect in-park position for other rides when the park officially opens at 9am, and you have a truly great way to start your day and spend your hard-earned Disney dollars.
Best $69 You Can Spend at Disney World Is Getting Better (and pricier)
However, the best $69 you can spend at Disney World is getting better. Beginning on December 2, the Early Morning Magic Fantasyland is expanding to include four more attractions as well as a different breakfast option. The price is also increasing, but only by $10, which is frankly a negligible amount at the Mouse House for early access to four more Fantasyland attractions.
Starting in December, Fantasyland Early Morning Magic will include:
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- Peter Pan’s Flight
- Princess Fairytale Hall
- “it’s a small world”
- Mad Tea Party
- Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid
The last four items are all new to the line-up as of December. On our visit over the summer, “small world” was open to early-morning guests, but it wasn’t a guaranteed inclusion. The three added rides aren’t all huge wins as their lines are often not that terrible during the day, but getting easy access to princesses at Fairytale Hall is an excellent addition to the early morning.
By experiencing all of these things before 9am, you have all three advance FastPasses at your disposal for other rides later in the day. Don’t forget to factor in staging yourself near some other rides just before 9am — you will already be further into the park than most guests so should be able to pick up at least two quick rides before lines start filling up.
Starting with these changes in December, Early Morning Magic breakfast moves from Pinocchio Village Haus to Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café. It will continue to be served until 10am, so hold off eating until around 9:30 or 9:40am to get max value from your easy-access rides and attractions.
Do note that Peter Pan’s Flight will be closed for refurbishment on the early mornings of: January 8, 15, 22 and 29, as well as February 3 and 5, 2019.
If paying extra for early morning access is right up your alley, also note that a couple of months ago, Disney added an Early Morning Magic event at Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios, also $79 for adults ($69 for kids). While Toy Story Land is very popular, it actually isn’t as good of a value in part because Hollywood Studios is so much smaller of a park than Magic Kingdom. Getting to that park for opening is usually sufficient to quickly enjoy Toy Story Land and then move on to the rest of the attractions.
