The next generation of the award-winning The Room business class will soon be flying on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Japanese mega-carrier All Nippon Airways announced Tuesday that it would bring its highly acclaimed The Room business-class product to its growing fleet of 35 Dreamliners. (ANA has 27 additional 787s on order.)

The news was announced at the Paris Air Show, where ANA showed off mockups of the new seat, dubbed The Room FX.

The Room FX, or "future experience," is a narrower and modernized version of the existing seat found across select Boeing 777-300ERs. ANA worked with Safran and Acumen, the seat manufacturer and designer, to customize the product even further because the Dreamliner features a narrower cabin than the Boeing 777.

Perhaps the most notable feature of the new seat is that it will be pre-reclined, similar to the business-class product on Finnair. You'll be able to make small adjustments to the recline to create a sofa-like configuration, but you won't be able to fully customize your adjustments.

When it's time for bed, the adjustable legrest can be raised to transform the seat into a fully flat bed measuring 76.5 inches long.

Other enhancements with The Room FX product include additional charging options, including Qi wireless charging pads and USB-C ports, as well as Bluetooth audio connectivity to pair your wireless headphones to the 24-inch 4K monitor.

As with the existing The Room product, all seats offer a sliding privacy door that can be closed after takeoff.

Seats will be arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, meaning that every passenger will enjoy direct aisle access. Seats will alternate between forward- and rear-facing, and business class will be spread across two cabins on ANA's redesigned Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

There will be six rows of seats in both the forward and rear cabin, totaling 48 business-class pods.

All in all, the introduction of The Room should be a major upgrade for travelers flying on ANA's Boeing 787. While the existing product offers direct aisle access, it's far less private, spacious and modern than The Room.

In addition to the new biz cabins, ANA will also be introducing new premium economy and economy cabins across its Dreamliners. This cabin retrofit program was first announced back in April and includes new Recaro recliners in both cabins.

ANA expects to start retrofitting jets in 2026. Note that only Dreamliners flying on long-haul international routes will receive the cabin upgrades.
