WorldHotels by Best Western is entering the glamping space

Best Western Rewards members, rejoice — you can now experience the great outdoors on points.

WorldHotels, an independent luxury and lifestyle brand within the BWH Hotels portfolio, has announced the launch of a new collection of upscale glamping and outdoor properties called WorldHotels Backdrop.

These properties offer luxury glamping accommodations, from cabins to covered wagons to safari-style tents — so that guests can book a relaxing nature retreat without sacrificing comfort. They often feature additional amenities like fire pits and onsite recreation areas. And Backdrop properties are located in scenic destinations around the world, with easy access to top outdoor attractions and activities like national parks, hiking trails and wildlife hotspots.

The Backdrop collection is still relatively small, with only three properties currently listed: Zion Wildflower Resort in Utah, Asheville River Cabins on the banks of the French Broad River in North Carolina, and The Lodge at Pico Bonito (coming soon) near Honduras’ Pico Bonito National Park. However, a press release hinted at plans to expand to places like Phan Thiet, Vietnam, African safari destinations and Australia.

Even better, because WorldHotels is part of the Best Western Rewards program, you’ll be able to stay at these unique places on points. Redemptions are already available online.

For instance, you could spend a night in this covered wagon at Zion Wildflower Resort, just minutes away from Zion National Park, starting from $175 or 32,000 points. You could take the hotel’s complimentary shuttle to the national park for a day of exploring, then retire to your covered wagon at night for some stargazing, s’mores and a soak in the outdoor hot tub — all with stunning views of Utah’s red rock country.

Best Western Zion Wildflower Resort points and cash rates — WORLDHOTELS

Best Western is a popular choice for road trippers and national park visitors, so the addition of Backdrop makes a lot of sense. But this isn’t the first hotel chain to incorporate glamping and outdoorsy brands. We’ve seen Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott do the same in recent years, part of a larger trend of hotel loyalty programs incorporating more unique and boutique properties.

Bottom line

Here at TPG, we love saving money by booking lodging with rewards — especially now that airfare is on the rise. And with more outdoorsy lodging options becoming bookable with points, adventurous award travelers have more options than ever.

Now that WorldHotels has joined the glamping game, Best Western loyalists will be able to earn and burn points on unforgettable nature stays.
