Rocking and rolling is not how most people prefer their cruise ships — unless you’re sailing on a music-themed cruise. Then rock ‘n’ roll is the vibe you’re wanting, as you soak up the sun and cruise the world with thousands of like-minded music fans.

Music-themed cruises cover a wide array of styles including rock, metal, country, Broadway and blues, offering a complete immersion into the world of each genre. You’ll not only enjoy close-up encounters with your favorite artists during performances and meet-and-greets, but you’ll also find a sense of community from being together with other fans for multiple days at sea. (Not to mention, you’ll get to visit a country or two in the process.)

Which 2022 or 2023 music cruises should you consider? Below are some of the best upcoming music-themed cruises that are bound to create some epic memories, whether your vibe is crowd surfing during a rock show or belting show tunes with Broadway’s best.

Kiss Kruise XI on Norwegian Jewel, Oct. 24-29 and Oct. 29-Nov. 3, 2022

This is your last chance to sail with rock ‘n’ roll royalty. The 11th and final Kiss Kruise to feature the legendary rock band Kiss will sail two back-to-back weeks this October. Both sailings depart from Los Angeles and stop at Ensenada and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Expect two farewell-to-cruising performances from Kiss each week of the cruise. Fans can enjoy plenty of fun Kiss-themed events with members of the band, a special expo of rare memorabilia and the chance to “rock ‘n’ all night and party every day.”

An impressive roster of rock and metal bands will keep the ship rocking when Kiss is on break. The Oct. 24 cruise will feature Dokken, Warrant, L.A. Guns, George Lunch & the Electric Freedom and Baron. The Oct. 29 sailing will host Black Label Society, Buckcherry, Bruce Kulick, Sebastian Bach, Stryper and Vixen.

Prices for Kiss Kruise XI start at $1,705 per person for an inside cabin, based on double occupancy. The fare includes access to all performances and meet-and-greets with the artists.

Malt Shop Memories Cruise on Holland America’s Nieuw Amsterdam, Oct. 30-Nov. 6, 2022

The good ol’ days can now be found sailing the Caribbean on The Malt Shop Memories Cruise. Set to take over all decks of Holland America’s Nieuw Amsterdam, the ’50s and ’60s music cruise will sail from Fort Lauderdale to Half Moon Cay, Bahamas; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Favorites from the bygone era set to perform on board include Dion, Frankie Avalon, The Righteous Brothers, Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone, Chubby Checker, Darlene Love, Gary U.S. Bonds and The Duprees. Highlights among the ship events include a senior prom, game shows, karaoke and a sock hop.

Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise 2022 on Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas, Dec. 7-12, 2022

Maybe one stop in Jamaica isn’t enough and reggae vibes are calling your name. If so, the Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise 2022 may appeal to you. This five-night cruise on Royal Caribbean‘s Freedom of the Seas, organized by Jamrock Productions and Rose Tours, will travel from Miami to Jamaican destinations including Montego Bay and Ocho Rios.

For the December 2022 voyage, you can expect performances by several reggae icons, including Damian Marley and Shabba Ranks, along with an extensive roster of artists including Burning Spear, Sizzla, Maxi Priest, Tarrus Riley, Morgan Heritage, J Boog, Cocoa Tea, Cham and Naomi Cowan.

ShipRocked on Carnival Breeze, Jan. 22-28, 2023

For fans of rock and metal music, ShipRocked is a popular sailing organized by Ask4 Entertainment. The 2023 edition on Carnival Magic will start in Port Canaveral, Florida, and include stops in Half Moon Cay, Bahamas; Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos; and Amber Cove, Dominican Republic.

Throughout the ship, passengers will find multiple stages for performances. The 2023 lineup includes Falling in Reverse and Parkway Drive in debut performances, along with rock bands Nothing More, Dropout Kings and Skillet, and metal bands Motionless In White, Wargasm and Bad Omens. Fans can enjoy one-on-one time with their favorite groups at scheduled meet-and-greets with all of the bands.

Groove Cruise Miami on Celebrity Summit, Jan. 19-23, 2023

Electronic dance music fans 21 and older can turn up on this early 2023 Whet Travel sailing to Celebrity Cruises’ private beach area in Labadee, Haiti. Groove Cruise Miami departs from Miami aboard Celebrity Summit.

The lineup for the EDM sailing has yet to be announced but previous cruises featured CloZee, Sofi Tukker, Claude VonStroke, Gorgon City and Markus Schulz. Along with multiple music sets, Groove Cruise Miami hosts fun theme party nights focusing on everything from an ‘80s prom to fire and ice.

Country Music Cruise 2023 on Holland America’s Nieuw Amsterdam, Jan. 22-29, 2023

Adding more than a bit of boot-scootin’ country to the cruise life, the Country Music Cruise 2023 takes over Holland America Line’s Nieuw Amsterdam for a weeklong jamboree at sea this coming January. The voyage leaves from Fort Lauderdale with stops in St. Maarten and Puerto Rico.

The artist lineup of country music favorites includes Randy Owen, Clay Walker, The Oak Ridge Boys, Mark Chesnutt, Neal McCoy, Pam Tillis, Johnny Lee and John Berry. This is your chance to meet and greet the country stars, join in on jam sessions and attend panel discussions. If you like to kick up your heels, you’ll have plenty of opportunities for line dancing, Texas swing and two-stepping.

Chris Jericho’s Rock ’N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea: Four Leaf Clover on Norwegian Pearl, Feb. 2-6, 2023

Wrestling and rock fans will love this Sixthman cruise with wrestler and musician Chris Jericho. For the fourth installment of Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea, cruisers will sail on Norwegian Pearl from Miami to its private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay.

So far, the 2023 lineup features Jericho’s band, Fozzy, Quiet Riot, Royal Bliss, Raven, Priss and Gutter Candy. The sailing will also offer autograph sessions and host four days of wrestling matches featuring wrestlers from All Elite Wrestling.

The Outlaw Country Cruise 7 on Norwegian Pearl, Feb. 21-27, 2023

If you’re a little more country than rock ‘n’ roll, maybe a cruise with a country twang is the right vacation for you. For a week in late February, Norwegian Pearl will host the seventh installment of the popular Outlaw Country Cruise. This Sixthman voyage will sail from Miami and stop in Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas, and Cozumel, Mexico.

The ship features five different venues where notable country acts like The Mavericks, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle & The Dukes, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Old 97’s and more will perform throughout the trip.
