Update: Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here.
While some destinations on the African continent are cheaper to get to than others, Cape Town is usually more elusive than most. Well, we're seeing cheap fares from Newark (EWR) to Cape Town (CPT) on Star Alliance airlines for as low as $573 round-trip. We're even seeing nonstop flights on the return from Cape Town on United. This deal was first reported by Scott's Cheap Flights.
Note that while there is pretty decent availability from November through March 2020, they include long layovers in Europe in either direction. The best deals with the shortest layovers fall during the last week of January and the first week in February.
