Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency such as Orbitzor Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using The Platinum Card® from American Express, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through the Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.

Although Oktoberfest is centered in Munich, we all know the beer flows far and wide across Deutschland. In other words: find yourself an affordable way into Germany, and you’re set. (Plus, you’ll have ample opportunity to marvel at how stupendous the nation’s rail system is.)

We’re seeing low fares to Frankfurt on Delta Air Lines (and its SkyTeam partners, KLM and Air France) departing from myriad locations across the United States. Locales as far west as Seattle, San Francisco and San Jose are included in the deal, along with points east: Houston, Milwaukee, Columbus, Indianapolis, Boston, Baltimore, Raleigh-Durham, Orlando, Tampa and more.

Our research has found rates in the $500 range for dates as early as late September and as far out as May 2019 for departures on Sunday through Wednesday and returns on Tuesday through Thursday. It’s worth noting that a 7-day stay looks to be required.
