Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11 p.m. Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using The Platinum Card® from American Express, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through the Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.
Business class flights to Asia on Hainan and Qatar have dropped as low as $1,711 round-trip.
TPG Reviews and Travel Intern, Javi Rodriguez recently flew Hainan’s 787-9 business class from Beijing (PEK) to Chicago (ORD) and gave it an 86/100 rating (great for TPG standards) and said that it was one of his most memorable flights to date — so we’d say this is a pretty good deal worth checking out.
Qatar also is known for having a great business class product, with its QSuite being a standout. This suite is designed to seat four passengers, but also allows for complete individual privacy when you want it. It’s only available on specific routes — so make sure to check if your flight has them when selecting your fare on Qatar’s website. The Qatar fares could also make for decent American elite status mileage runs.
To search, head to Google Flights and enter your origin, destination and stopover cities. Scroll through the calendar function to find dates and prices that work for you. Finally, click through to book directly with the airline or through an OTA like Priceline or Expedia.
