Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using The Platinum Card® from American Express, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through the Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.

Get ready to pack your bags because flights to Germany are on sale from just $327 round-trip. The low fares won't help you get to Oktoberfest, which is from mid-September through the first week of October, but availability is widespread from late October 2019 through April 2020. All flights are operated by Oneworld members American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair and Iberia.

Something to be aware of is that these fares are for basic economy, which means that you’ll have to pay to check a bag and select a seat, but you’ll get free meals and drinks as per usual. Fortunately, you can combat some of the negative aspects of basic economy on American Airlines by using your airline elite status or a co-branded card.
