If any of your future travel plans include hotel stays and you'd like to cut down out out-of-pocket costs, this sign-up bonus could be worth a look. The Citi Hilton HHonors Visa Signature Card is once again offering 75,000 points to new cardholders who spend $2,000 in the first three months.
We last saw this increased sign-up offer back in February, and it's a significant step up from the usual bonus of 40,000 HHonors points, although that offer has a lower spending requirement ($1,000 in the first four months).
According to TPG's latest valuations, HHonors points are worth 0.5 cents apiece, so the 75,000-point bonus gets you $375 in value. Depending on how you redeem those rewards, though, they can be worth significantly more.
Is It Worth It?
The Citi Hilton HHonors Visa Signature Card is one of several solid options for Hilton guests, and it offers some notable benefits especially considering that it's a no-fee card. The complimentary HHonors Silver status is especially nice; we value this level at $65, with the main perk being a fifth night free on award redemptions. Plus, you can upgrade to HHonors Gold status when you $20,000 on the card in a calendar year or complete four eligible stays within the first 90 days of account opening.
However, the biggest draw for this card is probably that 75,000-point sign-up bonus, which can get you far if you redeem those rewards wisely. If you want to really stretch their value, you could opt to redeem at a lower-level Hilton property where free nights go for as little as 5,000 points. You could also save on out-of-pocket costs for a short stay at a luxurious Category 9 property like the Conrad Hong Kong, where nights start at 70,000 points in August. If you already have some HHonors points stashed, you could even splurge for a night at the Category 10 Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, where free nights usually cost 95,000. If you travel all that way though, you'll definitely want to spend more than a night or two at the property, so it could be worth looking into a Points & Money reward (if available) or paying cash if you can find decent rates.
Finally, keep in mind that there are other Hilton co-branded cards worth considering. For example, the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Card (with a $95 annual fee) is currently offering a sign-up bonus of two free weekend nights after you spend $2,500 in the first four months, and those free nights can easily surpass $500 in value if you use them at high-end properties.
If you'd like to book award stays at any Hilton properties, the 75,000 points you'll earn with the Citi Hilton HHonors Visa Signature Card sign-up bonus will definitely come in handy. It's a generous bonus — especially for a no-fee card — and a significant step up from the standard 40,000-point offer. Just don't wait too long if you're interested, since it's unclear how long this limited-time offer will stick around.
