New Chase Freedom Mobile App Lets You Redeem Rewards In-Store

With a just-announced mobile app, the Chase Freedom card (No longer open to new applicants) is offering a new way to redeem your cash-back rewards at 30 of the country's biggest stores, restaurants and movie theaters. The app is available as a free download for both iPhone and Android devices.

In addition to checking your rewards balance and activating 5% cash-back categories each quarter from your phone, you can now redeem the exact rewards amount you want to use in-store, right at check-out. You simply choose the merchant on the app, input the amount of rewards to use and get an instant e-gift card with a barcode you can present to the cashier.

Mobile app aside, the Chase Freedom is one of the best cash-back cards on the market, but by maximizing the bonus categories and combining it with one of Chase’s premium Ultimate Rewards cards (such as Chase Sapphire Preferred), it becomes one of the most powerful points-earning tools out there — and one that's a no-brainer considering there's no annual fee.
