Silvercar, the app-based car rental company, has announced the next city in its expansion. Starting April 2, 2018, passengers will be able to reserve cars at San Diego International Airport (SAN).

San Diego is Silvercar’s third location in California after Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) and its 20th in the US. Salt Lake City was the most recent city to welcome Silvercar, which began operations in Utah’s capitol in January.

Silvercar operates a fleet purely of Audis, and the company said travelers will be able to rent either the Audi A4 sedan or Audi Q5 SUV at the new site. Silvercar was acquired by Audi in 2017 and says it plans to “double travel operations by the end of 2018.”

The company has cut down on a lot of typical hassles of traditional rental car companies. Not only do they operate great cars for a reasonable price (starting at $49 per day), but they also come loaded with GPS, onboard WiFi, SiriusXM satellite radio and toll fare pricing for no extra cost. Plus, you’ll be spared from the egregious gas prices when returning the car without a full tank — you’ll be charged market price plus a $5 fill up fee.

You can reserve cars in San Diego through the app starting today. Other recent locations include Tampa (TPA), Orlando (MCO) and Seattle (SEA) with Silvercar now operating in the following 20 markets:

  • Austin, TX (AUS)
  • Chicago, IL (ORD)
  • Dallas, TX (DAL)
  • Denver, CO (DEN)
  • Ft. Lauderdale, FL (FLL)
  • Las Vegas, NV (LAS)
  • Los Angeles, CA (LAX)
  • Miami, FL (MIA)
  • Miami, FL – South Beach
  • Newark, NJ (EWR)
  • New York, NY – Brooklyn
  • New York, NY – Brooklyn Downtown
  • New York, NY – Manhattan
  • Orlando, FL (MCO)
  • Phoenix, AZ (PHX)
  • Salt Lake City, UT (SLC)
  • San Diego, CA (SAN)
  • San Francisco, CA (SFO)
  • Seattle, WA (SEA)
  • Tampa, FL (TPA)

TPG staffers and contributors who have tried Silvercar have had great experiences with the service and have found the prices to be fairly good. If you’re new to the Silvercar, you can earn a $25 credit on your first rental by entering the referral code: BKELLY1. Be sure to reserve your car with a credit card that offers primary rental car coverage, such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve, which will also earn you 3x points for the travel purchase.

If you’re planning on reserving a car for longer than five days, the company is currently offering 40% when using the code WEEKLY. You can also check out our points and miles guide to Silvercar here.
