Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency such as Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using the American Express Platinum Card, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Expedia’s courtesy 24 hour cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.

Yesterday we highlighted excellent nonstop flight deals to Puerto Rico starting at just $68 round-trip. Today, flights to Cancun (CUN) are on sale, with nonstop fares starting at $186 round-trip. While that might not sound great, it's about as cheap as you're going to find from the US to this warm-weather destination. That's partially because of the high airfare taxes and fees, which typically run around $122 round-trip. So, that means airlines are tacking on as little as $64 round-trip for these flights.

To book, head to Google Flights and plug in your desired departure city. After finding the dates that work best for you, book with the airline directly or with an OTA such as Expedia or Priceline.
