Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency such as Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using the American Express Platinum Card, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.

Several full-service carriers are currently offering great fares on flights from the US to Europe, with prices starting at just $394 round-trip. You can fly from cities all over the US to some of Europe's best destinations including Amsterdam (AMS), Barcelona (BCN), Paris (CDG), Madrid (MAD), Vienna (VIE) and Zurich (ZRH). Availability is widespread from January through March with flights operated by American, Delta, Finnair, Iberia, KLM, United and more.

Fortunately these fares are for full-service airlines so you'll get a complimentary checked bag, meals, entertainment and more. To book, head to Google Flights and plug in your desired departure and destination. After finding the dates that work best for you, book with the airline directly or with an OTA such as Expedia.

How we chose these cards

Our points-obsessed staff uses a plethora of credit cards on a daily basis. If anyone on our team wouldn’t recommend it to a friend or a family member, we wouldn’t recommend it on The Points Guy either.
