Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using the American Express Platinum Card, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.
Several airlines are offering cheap fares between Los Angeles (LAX) and cities all over the US. We’re seeing round-trip fares between Dallas (DFW) and LAX for $82 round-trip in basic economy with United. The cheapest fares are between LAX and DFW, Philadelphia (PHL), Baltimore (BWI), Chicago (ORD) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL). These low fares are valid for both directions — it doesn’t matter if you’re originating in or traveling to LAX.
Keep in mind that most of these fares with the exception of Virgin America are for basic economy and a some require a layover. To search, head to Google Flights and enter your origin and destination cities. Then, scroll through Google Flights’ calendar function to find dates that work best for you. Finally, click through to book with the airline itself.
