Flyadeal, the Saudi low-cost carrier, is reserving two rows on its aircraft for women. Males cannot select any of the seats in the two rows, 15 and 16, which are available only to female passengers.

Being a female, I made a dummy booking with the carrier and was able to successfully reserve a seat on a flight.

TPG Contributor Jason Rabinowitz didn’t have the same outcome. When he attempted to select a seat in the Ladies Only section, he wasn’t able to.

The Jeddah-based carrier launched the women-only section to ensure comfort and privacy for female passengers in September 2017. This isn’t the first airline to offer female-only sections on its aircraft. Air India announced that it offers preferred, female-only seating for female travelers back in January. In addition, Indian carrier Vistara announced it will offer women who are traveling alone more preferred seats in order to make them feel at ease.
